For the Aussie girls: I was in Spottie today picking up some buttons and I saw a bunch of lisette fabrics on the clearance rack and prints charming linens that were a further 25% off. Not sure how much all of them came down to, but I got a sales person to ring up a few and quite a lot came up at $4 metre (the linens)… which might be the same in…[Read more]

I’m making a modified RRH cape from LTTS for my nieces 16th birthday! I have the outer navy cut and sewn as well as the vintage lining. Next up is the fleece interlining 🙂

I am feeling pretty excited… I just finished sewing on the last button of a puppet show dress for my little girl that has been quite the laboured affair! I made my own piping (and piping cord) for it and handstitched all the facings/linings as well (which I have not done on previous puppet shows!)… So SO pleased it’s done… looking forward to…[Read more]

Thank you Greenpip! That’s a great tutorial. Might be what I am confusing it with.

Was it this one on the tea party:
Or perhaps try April’s blog. I seem to remember her doing some posts on beautiful insides!

I’m probably mis-remembering it, which would explain the confusion! Perhaps it wasn’t the birthday dress but another one. I used to have quite a good memory before children….

The reason I’m asking, is I’ve just spent hours hand sewing the insides into a puppet show and I’m wondering now if there was another nice way to do it? I have some faint memory of the blog post…
Ahh, it’s all sewn in now, but would love to find it again for next time!

Gorgeous dress Shelley! love the binding you did on bodice… beautiful!
I think the page I’m thinking of was actually on the O + S blog though… It was a pictorial version of how to attach the hem facing (or something like that)? It was somehow related to the puppet show hem facing, which I think is attached in a similar way?
Was there a post…[Read more]

I have a question about this step as well. Am I supposed to sew this seam all the way over to the edge or just to the dot that is just past the gathering star? Thanks!!

I was about to nominate myself here : http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/first-birthdays.html?m=1 but that’s bias binding on the bodice facing. I don’t think I did anything special on the hem facing…

Thats lovely, I hope Noah enjoyed the march. It is so nice to see the little ones taking such an interest this year. My 7yr granddaughter sang “The Last Anzac” at assembly yesterday, it is such a beautiful song and the words just touched my heart, it is a tribute to Alex Campbell who died not so long ago, but a moving tribute to all soldiers.
