Nicole replied to the topic how much ease on patterns – sail boat top in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
Hi Katy, welcome!
It is a little while since I made a Sailboat top but I found the fit spot on for my little one but I know I had to add length to the sleeve the older sizes. Maybe it is designed to be shorter?
I am in camp ‘one size up’ for a new pattern, with the theory being it will eventually fit.
I will also come onto the forum and ask…[Read more] -

Thaese are great news. I love the lines of this skirt. I made a couple already (though I am not uptodate with posting) and I just love them. The last one was already lengthened but for larger sizes a proper grading will be for sure better. Thanks Liesl!

I’m very excited, I just bought the parachute pattern in both sizes! I’ve got a great idea to frankenpattern it with the Tea party dress as well as making it as is too 🙂

Hello,
I’ve recently bought my first oliver +s pattern.. the sail boat set. I made a sail boat top for my little chap and it’s really tight on him.
He’s quite a small 3.5 year old and I measured him up and he was right for a size 4. but when it was made up it was really tight across his tummy and the sleeves stop above his wrists. Can you…[Read more]

Sandra S Hamous started the topic How thin is too thin for knits? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
Hello –
I am feeling a little confounded at the moment! I ordered some inexpensive knit fabric online with the intention of using it for the Parachute Polo and School Bus T-shirt. However, when it arrived, it wasn’t nearly as thick as I had hoped! One of the fabrics is a striped slub knit – super soft but also somewhat sheer, seems more suited…[Read more]

This skirt would be great in more sizes. It’s well constructed and fun to wear.

These concerns are one of the reasons I started sewing for my little guy. I often re-use adult clothing to make his little pants and shirts. I just cut out a pair of After School pants for him using an old pair of his dad’s jeans and a repurposed jumper (dress, not sweater) from the thrift store for the accent pieces.
Liesl talked about these…[Read more]

Good luck Ellen.
Do you have access to an older machine? Many modern machines dislike bulk but older work horses will often chug through anything.
Alternatively, leave that button hole off, sew a faux button where it should be and sew a popper on the inside. I do find this blouse does benefit from a sew in popper just under the edge anyway. -

I’m on the button holes! I’m having trouble with he one at the top. I’m at fencing with older Dd right now, but planning a second attempt late tonight.

Those quilts were just beautiful Fiona! But I must say any storms happening in and around your area would certainly be sewing ones!
We have our fabric for this “ball” dress and now we have to figure out how to print the so called printable pattern – simplicity. Then maybe I can get started on a muslin.
They don’t give us much time, just two…[Read more]

It’s now on my list to grade up the skirt and release it in larger sizes! I can totally understand why you like it, and it would be great for the older girls too, I agree. I have a very large project on my plate right now, but I’ll try to squeeze it in when I can find time, ok?
