Tamara replied to the topic Stupid things I've done while sewing O&S patterns in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
On doing some simple construction and getting a little sewing time in, I got started on a tiny apple picking dress. The big problem is that I keep for some unknown reason sewing the skinny placket backwards so the folded edge is the wrong way! I have two skinny plackets, both backward!

Nicole, I sew men’s patterns from old Finnish sewing magazines and I have also sewn Thread Theory patterns for my husband.

@Reeni, I am sorry, my jolly computer won’t show your photos.

She looks incredible! Totally should put her on the pattern cover – love the combo of fabrics she used. Can’t wait to get this pattern for myself!

Easter 2011… I think this was before I stated making o+S dresses for Easter. His might be a Sketchbook shirt?
sorry no good pictures! Vid instead. Her own sketched mods to Fairytale, and his Field trip raglan.
For good measure, her first day of Pre-K, in a playdate dress.

Nicole replied to the topic Shorten/lengthen line on Gallery tunic in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 10 years ago
On other patterns, I sort of eye ball it and see where it works best (i.e. won’t alter the shape too much).
I would love to know if there is a rule of thumb. The last few vintage patterns I have sewn tell you to ‘lengthen above this line’.

That Simplicity looks spot on! Thanks!
And I didn’t even think of pjs….I do have a pj pattern somewhere. Will check the leg width–that’s not something I am comfortable altering much.

Quick question, do we add/subtract length below, above, or on both sides of the line? Possibly I’m staring right at the answer and just not seeing it — thanks for any help!

I just made this skirt. Not sure about the pants, but the skirt was pretty straight forward.

I don’t have a pattern number for you but I have had success making casual pull on trousers from pj’s bottoms patterns.
You will need to add pockets and there looks to be a boot leg type thing going on, so maybe a teen style range? -

Hm, maybe a BHA tutorial is in order for those needing to make big head adjustments! Any volunteers to write one? Meleliza, your last guest post was so detailed and useful, want to tackle this?
Over thirty thousand happy photos in the flickr group, so it seems the brand as a whole is not designed for unusually small heads.

I spotted these pants in the Nordstrom catalog. Went to try them on…medium too small, large too big. So, I thought I’d try to find a similar pattern.
Any one have a tip on a similar loose, elastic waist, with pockets, wide-ish but not too wide leg pant?

Sarvi replied to the topic FBA bust darts on Gallery Tunic in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 10 years ago
Well, what I wound up doing was putting it on and re-marking the apex. This time only about 8 inches from the side seam, and sewed from there to the same spot where the ‘legs’ of the dart ended before. Hopefully it looks a bit better. I’ll put up a pic as soon as I can get flickr working again!

Nicole replied to the topic Making a sleeveless gallery tunic in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 10 years ago
Sorry to but in…. I was watching a movie last night ( The General’s Daughter) and the main actress (Madeline Stow)? was wearing a lovely sleeveless blouse which had an armhole facing, stitched down.
I thought of your question. -

Ellen, if it bugs you, fix it. I have embraced my quick unpick (it helps that is is a natty little number I purchased in the O+S store).
I just accept it as part of good sewing now.
Much less angst. 🙂 -

I love that sweet chubbiness they still have when they start kind. All gone by big school.
She is so lovely Janice. - Load More
