Description

A nice tank top is an indispensable part of a wardrobe. Not only can you wear it by itself to enjoy the warmth and sunshine in the summer, but it is also practical to wear under a cardigan or jacket when you want to layer. The Spirren is the perfect tank top with interesting seams and flattering shaping. The fitted tank top is designed for knit fabric and comes in regular and full bust options.

Suggested Fabrics

Primary Fabric: Medium-weight knit fabric with good recovery, and with 50% horizontal and vertical stretch, such as cotton spandex jersey, poly spandex jersey and interlock. The primary fabric is also used as the front partial lining.

Notions

• 2.8 yards (2.6 meters) of 3/8" (1 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain).

Choosing your Size

• Determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full-bust front pieces—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3″ (7.5 cm) or less, use regular bust; if it is more than 3″ (7.5 cm), use full bust.
• Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your bust (regular bust or full bust), choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
• Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
• Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
• It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
• If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.
• It is highly recommended that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabric that has similar weight as your final garment fabric.
