digital red riding hood sewing pattern
Who doesn’t love a Red Riding Hood cape? In red, it is a perfect accessory for fairy-tale play, but it can, of course, be made in any color. If made in warm wool or fleece fabric, it works perfectly as a cool-weather cover-up. Choose either a solid or colorful, large-scale print for the cape’s lining to give it your own style.

Red Riding Hood CapeSo easy to use the downloaded pattern. I used faux fur for the first time and satin lining. I made the fur button by covering a large four hole plastic button with a tiny wad of stuffing and gathered a large circle of fabric around it. I attached it to the fur fabric with a small button on the wrong side for extra support, so the stitches did not show on the lining. It was a little fiddley to match the holes. I used button/carpet thread for extra strength. Surprisingly, the stitched disappeared into fur.Was this helpful?Only two sizesNote that this pattern only comes in two sizes (medium and large). It is exactly the same as the pattern in the "Little Things to Sew" book. Would be helpful to make this information a little clearer in the description. (I purchased by accident, on the misunderstanding that the digital version would get me some smaller pattern options than are in the book, which I already have.) I have successfully used this pattern (from the book) to make a costume "chain mail cowl" from silver knit fabric (by cutting all of the cape pieces very short, so they only reach the shoulders). Like all Oliver+S patterns, this one is are well thought out and easy to use. Size medium was giant on my 15-month old, but still very cute!Yes, it's important to note that all the patterns we have made available in digital format (including this one) that were originally included in the Little Things to Sew Book are essentially the same as what is in that now out-of-print title. You can see the sizes included in each pattern by looking at at the Fabric Guide and Finished Measurements charts in the Details section of the page.2 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? -
