  • To see your top-viewed items on Flickr (on a computer – I don’t know if you can view “views” on the mobile app), go to your page. On the right hand side right underneath your “active since” date, there will be 3 white dots (like an ellipsis), mouse over that and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on “popular” and then you can sort your most…[Read more]

@rhythmtyagi that cross stitch is adorable! I saved the Martha Stewart pdf template to my phone’s Kindle app and am already thinking how I can adapt it to resemble my family – mostly, how I’ll make the man’s outfit look like a military uniform ;-). I love that the baby is in a carrier as I use my ring sling and ergo all the time! I like the sizing…[Read more]

Sarvi, after seeing your gorgeous mustard cardi on Flickr I went online and looked at the Brooklyn Tweed website – so many lovely patterns and yarns! I’ve put several on my mental knitting dream sheet.

For my mum’s birthday last week, I gave her a skein of this: http://www.tanisfiberarts.com/colour/aurora
Since my mum is Canadian I thought she…[Read more]

The first craft I ever learned was cross stitch. My mum taught me that the back should be almost as neat as the front. I have a long-running (as in, it’ll take me another decade at least :-P) cross stitch project that I really should pick up again.

I am currently learning to knit for the 4th time I think. I’ve never stuck with it long enough to…[Read more]

@motherof5 is this the one? http://www.purlbee.com/2014/04/08/corinnes-thread-baby-sunbonnet/

Because I went on the Purl Soho website and looked at all their lovely patterns and now I want to make a bonnet for Olivia! Perhaps out of leftover fabric to match the Easter dress I’ll be sewing her…

If I was a more experienced (and faster) knitter,…[Read more]

  • Ok, I’ll help you justify using it for yourself…would be a shame to use that fabric on something that will be outgrown. You’ll get longer wear out of it 😉

  • @georgeandizzy that’s adorable! I love it – would also be cute using a lengthened LTTS tutu for the skirt part.

@onehappymamma, another suggestion (for a pattern I don’t own, haha) would be a jumprope dress with a circle skirt modification – I feel like I’ve seen several floating around Flickr, and it would be adorable in denim & cotton lace, or…[Read more]

  • I bought really cheap blackout curtains at Walmart a couple years ago for my older daughter’s nursery. Not terribly attractive, but lightweight and pretty effective – and cheap! I think each curtain was about $8. Two years and a cross-country move (and one more child!) later, they don’t fit the windows in the house we have now. I cut up one of the…[Read more]

I’m thinking I’m going to give @motherof5 ‘s rota system a try this year – I picked up quite a few Thread Theory patterns during their New Years sale (the wardrobe builder set – Strathcona henley, Jedediah pants, and Newcastle cardigan – and the Camas blouse for me), so together with Liesl’s new patterns, there’s quite a lot of sewing I can now do…[Read more]

SO EXCITED!! I was given a very generous gift card by my MIL for Christmas to treat myself to some nice fabric (I’m so blessed to have a MIL I get along with so well!), so I just ordered my first Liberty! I was able to get enough for a Weekend Getaway blouse, as well as some lovely indigo linen to sew myself a Bistro Dress for Easter! Of course I…[Read more]

  • @motherof5 the kedgeree looks interesting! I’ve never heard of it before, one of the things I love about this thread. And yes, yams = sweet potatoes (they may be different plants but for all intents and purposes are interchangeable in recipes). I would imagine the sweetness of the yams plays nicely against the sharp salty Gruyere :-).

  • @cybele727 oh man, you had me at Gruyere! That sounds amazing.
