vothgirl replied to the topic View B Shirt Placket Interfacing in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 9 years ago
The two pieces of interfacing are for the crotch snap placket on the bodysuit only, not for the neck placket. I haven’t looked at the errata to see if/how the directions were edited to fix the confusion, but that’s what it’s intended for – those snaps see a lot more wear & tear due to diaper changes, crawling, etc and need to be reinforced.
Hope…[Read more]

vothgirl replied to the topic Jo-Ann's Butterick Sale March 6-8 –for those in the U.S. in the forum off topic 9 years ago
My sister had the same issue with the Lisette patterns (which clearly say “Butterick” on the envelopes!) ringing up as McCalls during the 3/$5 sale a couple weeks ago – except that the store manager wouldn’t honor the terms of the sale and let her have them at the sale price. It took a call to the central customer service center to get it somewhat…[Read more]

vothgirl replied to the topic The size 5 project in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
Well thanks to @georgeandizzy ‘s blog post and a Facebook promotional coupon, last night I found myself buying the Puppet Show pattern ;-). My girls fall in separate size ranges but since Olivia has all of Ellie’s old things to grow into, I only got the larger size. Once I finish my Easter sewing (Library Dresses for the girls and a Bistro dress…[Read more]

vothgirl replied to the topic LTTS Small Messenger – Fabric Requirements? in the forum oliver + s: little things to sew 9 years ago
Sorry you have been waiting for a reply, I just now logged on and saw your question. Fabric requirements for the small bag are: 1/2 yard fabric for the outer, 1/2 yard for the lining, 1/2 yard for the straps, 1/2 yard canvas for backing Fabric A (optional), 4 yards 1/2″ wide bias binding.
Hope that helps!

I think the texture of the pie crust would be better if it was frozen prior to baking. I use this recipe:
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/12/p-p-p-pie_crust_and_its_p-p-p-perfect/and it’s fantastic – freezing actually improves the texture and makes it more flaky! I often make a couple extra and freeze them as flattened balls in ziploc…[Read more]

vothgirl replied to the topic Extending blouse into dress in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 9 years ago
It’s worth trying it first with a less precious fabric (I know, I’m no fun either!). I’ve made the shirt into a tunic a couple of times by adding a 3-4″ peplum at the bottom. While I liked the A-line, loose-fitting look, it is a flared style, and if you just extended the side seam lines down a further 6 inches, it would end up very wide.…[Read more]

I had to google what RealTree fabric is. Are you sewing it for a girl or boy, and is it meant to be worn soon? I was thinking a layette jacket out of sherpa or berber fleece (if meant to be worn while it’s still winter) with bias trim in leftover RealTree or hunting orange fabric would look nice (if for a girl, you could trim it in a rose pink or…[Read more]

I will be making a Christmas stocking for Olivia this year – it didn’t hit me until November that this was her first Christmas, and by that point I just didn’t have the time to sew her one. Fortunately I had a spare stocking we could use and will make her one for her 2nd Christmas 😉 (I’m the “stocking lady” in my family – starting in high…[Read more]

You’ll love sewing and wearing the Everyday Skirt! I’ve sewn 3 now (2 for myself and one for my sister). It’s easy but looks very pulled together.
I may have also taken advantage of the “yay we won!” sale and picked up 1 or 3 Liesl + Co patterns I didn’t have yet…

To see your top-viewed items on Flickr (on a computer – I don’t know if you can view “views” on the mobile app), go to your page. On the right hand side right underneath your “active since” date, there will be 3 white dots (like an ellipsis), mouse over that and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on “popular” and then you can sort your most…[Read more]
