Thanks for the tip @vothgirl, that’s very interesting! I’m so bad at technology :).

My most viewed item is a dress made from the Cottage Home tutorial in 2011. I used Anna Maria Horner voile and was terrified that I would ruin such expensive fabric. But both my girls adored that dress and wore it until it was indecently short.

    My most…[Read more]

  • Oh, great tip, @vothgirl ! I bet you will see an interesting uptick in views after appearing on the blog. I’ll be curious to know what the difference is.

@with-love-heidi I wonder whether the Project Run & Play entry had something to do with it?

@justmejay I know the hunstman spider pic you mention, I can see why it has so many views!

@vothgirl, I’m left-handed too and my grandmother taught me to knit almost 40years ago. Mostly I sat opposite her and copied her right-handed knitting but occasionally we used a mirror. It seemed like a great idea at the time but, like you have found, there are fewer resources for lefties. That makes things so much more difficult and frustrating!…[Read more]

Many years ago, when I was in Austria, I bought some beautiful yarn and a sweater pattern. Those Austrian ladies could knit like maniacs and they made it look so easy. I was able to finish 2/3 of the sweater, but after more than a decade (I hear you @vothgirl) I finally gave the pieces to my stepdaughter to unravel and crochet into something…[Read more]

I do a bit of embroidery myself. @vothgirl – I so agree with your mom on the back being just as neat! Check out my recent most cross stitch – http://rhythmofrhythm.blogspot.in/2014/11/cross-stitch-family-portrait.html

Planning to do a set of kokeshi dolls next!
Would love to learn to crochet!

@vothgirl, Hugo has printed me up a ‘rota’ that everyone fills in. The Twins change their minds a lot before I get to them but that is have the fun. Once it is cut, that is it.

I finally finished my cousins dress. It is beautiful and if I have fitted the muslin correctly, should fit like a glove.
It was a lot of work though. Lots of pieces,…[Read more]

  • @vothgirl, I will email you my recipe, lots of cream and butter but very child friendly.
Don’t bother eating it, just stick it straight on your bum, that it where it will end up 😉

I only make it on special occasions.

    Sweet potatoes, excellent!

I will admit @vothgirl, I shopped and wrapped throughout the year as I didn’t know how easy Trixie would be. It has made for a very easy Christmas and I will do it again.

I have a lot of gifts to buy, think 50+ people, so I am always on the look out for lovely, practical things.

Books and Belgium chocolate featured heavily this year.

@vothgirl, my knit version was a bit voluminous too, but it is awesome as a smart casual evening top.

@vothgirl: Some photo editing things don’t actually change the pixel grid in a photo, they just set some metadata on the file that tells other things to render the pixels in a certain orientation… Not every program or script out there respects this orientation change, so it can end up weird. By emailing it to yourself, you probably sent a…[Read more]

@vothgirl That’s very sweet! I think our daughters are probably a similar age. I can hear my two year old ‘reading’ stories to her cot toys before she naps. ‘Babbit dis is Peppa Pig’ etc.

I love the unmoderated comments of small children. Lady E is currently obsessed by noise ‘Noise, noise, wat dat mummy? Car noise mummy, bang and pop mummy’…[Read more]

  • @vothgirl I thought you just hung out sideways most of the time!

I don’t think that’s something to do with the site but with the image that was uploaded. Can you try to rotate it and then upload it again?
