If she is only 8 I am wondering of she is only really after width? I have sewn for a obese child and her I found that was he case for her. I think what I would do is too split the front dress panel in half and add a few inches to the that.

Sorry to hear that that seaming went so slowly, @sanitystitches. I pressed mine and then sort of fiddled with the fabric as I sewed, so I didn’t need to baste. But different fabrics may respond differently, too. And your finished coat looks terrific!

Hugo’s 18th outfit is done, happy dance, on with my jeans.

Hi everyone! I’m out of town at a conference, so apologies for the slow replies. @dubhels2003, I think you mean easestitching? It’s a basting stitch that you can remove after you finish the seam.
