We’re currently living in Columbus Ohio having moved here earlier in the year from Australia. While it’s really cold outside the house is very warm and my daughter finds flannelette much too warm, she just doesn’t seem to get cold. We’re going to be in NYC for Xmas too and I’m planning to just pack knit pjs.

My six-year-old vastly prefers knits to wovens. I make a lot of Playtime leggings for her. They are her very favorite thing to wear. I have been sewing for Trixie. A Playtime tunic&leggings, a Bubble dress+bloomers, a Puppet Show+ shorts, a 2+2 blouse and now a Sailboat top and trousers.

I agree with the above, I was making what I liked for my oldest, then getting annoyed when she would only wear it once it twice. I finally figured out that I needed to ask her opinion on basically everything.

@lightningmcstitch is correct. This is one pattern that needs to fit well in the girth. Get the smaller size.

(And make a muslin bodice)

I would do as you suggest but sew one side of your collar to the jacket ( the under collar) and the upper collar to your facing/lining.

Then sew those together
