The placket is a beautiful detail, but I’m wondering if the little girl will need help to put on this top or whether she can just slip it in with the buttons closed.

(She’s five and in another country so I can’t ask her myself.)

    Thank you!

I just tested one on my kid – it slipped easily over her head without unbuttoning the back. It was a teeny bit of a wriggle pulling it down through the chest, however. I don’t know if that helps or not! Honestly, if I were sewing in a rush it would work without the placket…but if I were sewing for someone else’s child, I’d put it in.

The back placket will extend the life of the garment. Lidia wore her for years past its ‘correct’ size as she could shimmy into it with the placket open.

Thanks, folks. That’s exactly what I needed to know. Plackets it shall be!
