I’m making a modified RRH cape from LTTS for my nieces 16th birthday! I have the outer navy cut and sewn as well as the vintage lining. Next up is the fleece interlining 🙂

Oh that is too funny!
I rang my parents for this weekend’s itinerary (and to share some of it also) and to ask my dad to pick up the christening cake. My dad asked my nine year old son if he would like to march in the ANZAC day parade with him and wear his great Nan’s medal. My Noah said, “It would be my honour.” And of course the motherly pride swelled!

Great suggestions, Reeni! I always forget about Greenberg and Hammer. I’d add Steinlauf and Stoller to your list for their great tools and notions. And I love Elliot Berman for their European imported fabrics from all the great fashion houses.

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoThis is not so much lunch as a micro snack but my kid was asking for peanut butter so I blitzed half roasted almonds and half roasted & salted sunflower seeds. Pretty fantastic in a little ‘sandwich’ between crackers, and really held her over well.

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoOh yes! I love that idea too! This child is going to have a lot of outfits! Ok so this might sounds crazy but bare with me for a moment. What if I used the puppet show top and the tea party sunsuit bottom and modified them to mash together. It would have the collar, a line to add piping to the bodice and I could embroider the bodice with little…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoYes I adore tartan in general also (maybe it is the Scottish roots?) on boys particularly. I think that if you swap the button/snaps to the back and add tucks from the shoulders down to about level with the bottom of the armhole and also add a piped peter pan collar you could have an heirloom version of a boy layette shirt. I also like to have…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI definitely agree with that. I love a tartan. That is so cute and both ideas are adorable! I will definitely be adding those to my sewing list for my future nephew! Look at how little they are!!

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI would love powder blue linen with white, piped with navy.
My son (nearly 18) wore frilly tartan shirts with navy trousers, which is possibly dated now but I do think a check or a tartan ‘mans’ up a baby outfit.https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5815343596/in/set-72157624823403656

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI do have the puppet show, @motherof5! Yes I’ll definitely try that! The hide and seek would be adorable too! What color do you think? I’m so inexperienced at sewing for boys! Give me baby girl and I’m golden but I’m still learning to get my creative juices flowing for little boy things! Hopefully this nephew will help things along 😉
