I second the cargo shorts and button front shirt.
To add, I fell in love with Oliver +s because of the hint of retro styling to the designs, because the styles are timeless and classic. If you do produce a men’s button-down shirt, one that is less “modern” styled and more traditional in design would be wonderful. Especially if it has a great…[Read more]

Once I get the fountain repainted and assembled today, I’m hoping to head upstairs to the studio and work on a pair of white cigarette pants (for me), a white pair of highwaisted shorts (for me), and if I finish both of those items up, I plan to start tracing a pair of 1950’s patterns that are mother-daughter in design. The fair is a 2 weeks away,…[Read more]

@justsewit, how frightening! And probably a little frustrating. I’m quite certain that the repair shop locked the lug nuts on very tightly for you, considering. It’s so frustrating to have car troubles when traveling by yourself with small children. Not to mention having to pay for vehicle work to be done. So glad you were able to repair the issue…[Read more]

My husband returned to work yesterday following vacation time off, with a freshly altered and repaired uniform shirt.
We had plans of a small trip during his time off, but 2 days before his vacation started, he was attacked by a pitbull while checking on a report of a domestic assault. He’s going to sport a lovely scar on his upper left arm, but…[Read more]

I love when women wear spaghetti straps! If anyone is concerned with visible bra straps for us less perky creatures, I’m a great fan of the clear bra strap. As for racer back tops, I personally can’t stand them. I feel like they belong with active wear and in a workout setting alone. That said, I don’t like the fit of racerback anything on myself,…[Read more]

I spent the past 5 weeks altering prom dresses, and have had the first 2 wedding gowns of the season come in this week, so my poor serger and sewing machine have really been put to task!
When not dealing with lace, sequins or beads, I’ve been selfish sewing like crazy. Since the first of May, I’ve made myself 3 blouses (spring2016 Vogue 1507,…[Read more]

I’m afraid we’re bustier than Nicole’s girls were, although I have been looking at what patterns @motherof5 used as her girls were developing for inspiration. I’m going to measure her after school today and see how much of an increase we need. This girl is one of the 3 shortest in her grade of over 130 kids, with a teensy waist, narrow shoulders,…[Read more]

I’m feeling a little guilty. I made zero Easter outfits this year. I’m still battling this horrible wet cough and the prescription meds leave me tired and honestly, I don’t fee quite up to safely running a sewing machine. I cannot wait for spring to finally trump winter. 70*F one day 32*F the next and back up to 58*F the next day is wreaking havoc…[Read more]

@dubhels2003– It was actually a winter-ish/springtime in Pennsylvanis nightgown. Flannel with short sleeves, lol. I do really like the pattern, and I’m sad that this is the biggest size in the envelope, although, I’ll probably grade it up for another year or 2. I use Ellie Mae Designs K157. I really like the fit, and it offers a matching American…[Read more]

Weinie dog top is shelved until I can make a button run. None of the buttons I have match. And the ones I thought looked pretty great actually kind of clashed badly in natural light. Of course.
Nightgown is complete and on a sleeping girl. I also whipped out the barely started Seashore dress I was going to work on in January before life…[Read more]

Finished up my green vintage patterned blouse, the wienie dogs are down to a fit and mark where the button holes and buttons go. I added some hidden boning to the green blouse, along with a covered eyehook, wax thread loop, clever tacks, and an invisible hem. Oh! and I covered the buttons, and I’m so so so glad I went that route- the blouse looks…[Read more]
