BTW, if you have any runners who are still in Boston and need assistance, we live about 5 miles from the finish line and are happy to help in any way we can.

Thank you for everyone’s messages and thoughts. We are safe. We had just returned from the marathon when the first explosion went off. We are all shaken and saddened that this could happen so close to our home. I have been astounded by the outpouring of love and support. Thank you! –Jeanne

What a wonderful thread! My children have grown up wearing items I’ve made from Oliver + S patterns.

My first O + S pattern and my first posts in the O + S Flicker pool were of the Tea Party Dresses.

I made this one for my niece:

This Tea Party Dress was the first of several for my daughter:

It has been delightful watching everyone’s children grow over the years. I am looking forward to more photos and years ahead!

You can make the bow out of contrasting fabric cut on the bias. There are steps on how to do this in the pattern. Looking forward to seeing your Croquet dress!

I can related to having difficulty finding time and motivation to sew. Since I work full time, I only sew in the evenings after my daughter (who is 5) and my son (who is 3) are in bed. I usually sew for about 2-3 hours in the evening. Some weeks, I am able to sew every evening, but for most, I am able to squeeze in 3-4 nights of sewing. Don’t worry if you have fallen out of your sewing groove. You’ll find the inspiration to get you back on your sewing pedal soon enough.

kmac0107, I live in New England as well, so my daughter, who refuses to wear pants, lives in leggings and tights during the cold weather. I agree with Emily in that the skirt patterns are not form fitting and tend to extend from the body. I haven’t run into any problems having cotton or corduroy skirts or dresses sticking to my daughters tights or leggings.

    Hi There,

My daughter has worn long sleeve cotton shirts under both of her Ice Cream Dresses and has never complained about it. It is a nice way to extend the life of the dresses so they can be worn in all seasons.

I fear I am a bit tardy in posting my introduction. My name is Jeanne (pronounced with an invisible i– Jeannie). I have a 5 year old daughter and a soon to be 3 year old son. I work full time in higher ed and live in Boston with my husband and our 3 dogs.

I started sewing Oliver and S patterns when the first collection was released in 2008. My first Oliver and S pattern was the Tea Party Sundress, and it still remains one of my favorite sewing patterns. Since then, I have sewn just about ever Oliver and S pattern printed.

As we all know, Liesl’s directions are so well written. I feel as if I learn something new with every pattern. It has been so nice to see such a wonderful community of sewers surround O&S. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!
