Thank you @needlewoman, she is beyond thrilled.
@ann-maree, I just took my time, and used a very fine sharp needle. Zara would like a peplum top made from the remnant but I told her I need a break before tackling that cloth again.
Thank you!
Trixie was happily playing under my cutting table so I cut out a Butterick Liberty shirt and denim…[Read more]

I finished a pair of Named Alexandrina Peg trousers, for Zara, in velvet backed apparel vinyl. It stretched, it slipped but the finished garment has produced far more joy then is decent for an item of clothing.
Total Rock Star moment.

@cybele727 – I’m curious – are you happy with the way the fabric shop cut it? Because I cut large scale prints that way as well….so I’m wondering if that was a good thing to you or a bad thing…

Ok, thanks everyone! I may go the @sarvi route and kind of wing it a bit – I love the added pockets that Sharon did. School starts in 3 weeks….need to get cracking!

Good memory Sarvi.
Yes, that was me and it was so frustrating. I ended up cutting the body to grain and cutting the cuff to the pattern but then interfacing the whole cuff so it was a bit more stable.

Still working on the Arielle. I am really enjoying taking my time and producing a beautiful garment. It is a simple pattern with some opportunities for nice touches like a bias-bound facing and hand-blind-stitched hem (did that last night in front of the TV). Tonight I’ll make buttonholes and sew on buttons and then it will be ready to present…[Read more]

juliamom2009 replied to the topic Uniform Fabric Sourcing in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I’m really lucky that I have a great brick and mortar store near me – I went shopping for school uniform fabric there. I bought about 5 different substrates – all manufactured by Robert Kaufman. I have pre-washed all, and they washed up great. One was a twill, one corduroy, one that feels almost like a heavier weight stable knit (suitable for a…[Read more]

I am working on an Arielle skirt (Tilly and the Buttons) for my sister using some yellow patterned Lisette twill from a few seasons ago. She had a birthday last month and because of all the “excitement” in our lives I didn’t give it much thought. I basted the skirt together and she came over yesterday to try it on. It was kind of fun having her…[Read more]
