Hello Lovelies, so nice to read that people are sewing.
Tilly received a last minute 6th Birthday invite and the little girls mother asked me to sew something so nicely, I couldn’t say no. She requested something ‘Kardashian’ style and it took a wee bit of research (by the Twins) to find out that there is a children’s label.
Luckily, I had a…[Read more]

It is knit mania over here. My mother-in-law is leaving tomorrow after a week’s visit, which has enabled me to do quite a bit of sewing. Tonight I made a wee Field Trip Raglan for the baby, a pair of Playtime leggings for my oldest (size 4 with the length of a 7) and a pair of undies for my second.
Tamara, I’m fortunate to have a long table…[Read more]

Very well done. I am just catching up on this thread – it was so nice of you to go to all that trouble to make this little cutie happy on her important day!

Finally finished a long-planned outfit for the baby – a long-sleeved Lullaby Layette shirt and set of Playtime leggings using Lillestoff jersey I splurged on while I was pregnant. Most exciting – it was the maiden voyage of my new coverstitch machine! I have been stretching the hems incessantly just to watch them streeeeeetch without popping seams.

Try doing this http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/garden-party-dress-part-two.html except for adding the waistband. Baste the side seams, fit and adjust yours gathers and then unpick the side seams and add the waist band.
Then you can make it as big as you need too.xx N

Thank you @shokomoo, you are sweet. We are campaigning Liesl to make a dungarees pattern.
My sewing gal-pal @ock-du-spock tracked down the same pattern in a larger size.It is lovely fabric.

Not to go against @with-love-heidi, she sews for a plethora of lucky children, I would only add to the back if she is really overweight.
Chubby little girls tend to have big tummies, which this dress would disguise well, if you add to the back it may get ‘tenty’ and lose the original look. -

I wonder if small hands are an advantage? My BIL used to get me to pull lambs as my hands were smaller.
Have fun shopping, seriously jealous.

@sarvi it is awesome. Jed calibrated it yesterday and we are having a cool snap so it is perfect baking weather.
I need a new kettle now, my old one looks very grungy on the hob.

Great ideas @ann-maree.
How frustrating @rhythmtyagi, it may soften yet or you could try giving it a scrub with a nailbrush and some yellow soap. That may help remove the dressing.

I made these for my baby girl https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/17417326175/in/album-72157649752898567/ ( not O+S, blush) and I pointed the Chevrons downwards even though they were across the grain on the fabric.
I made my older daughter a coat from the same cloth ( I purchased a bolt) and I did the same. Both garments are wearing well with…[Read more]
