    My grandson Miles at 5:

Miles: How do the animals get to earth?
    Mom: God makes them.
    Miles: Do their legs break?
Mom: No. What do you mean?
Miles: Well…when they fall so far from the sky why don’t they get hurt?

    Hello Mel,

What a gracious and generous offer you have made. My granddaughter, Amelia, would just love the family reunion dress. Of course, her favorite color is pink; she’s just coming into a size 4. Since I’m the seamstress for her wardrobe this year, I’d welcome a boost from you!

    Thanks.

If you’d like, I’m happy to send you my email and address in the US.

Thanks, Sarvi and Nicole. I’m working one up in corduroy just now, but when I finish I’ll try the terry. This is a great little pattern!

Hawthorne Threads is mainly a quilting source, but I have found good knits (limited stock) there. The company offers superb service and good prices. They carry Robert Kaufman’s wonderful jersey in solid colors. I’ve also had good luck with Banberry.

I’m always looking for new sources for interlock and jersey knits. I’ve scoured the internet to find just a few pieces of Oliver and S older stock. Land of Oh from S. Korea is also a source through Etsy, although expensive. Why is quality knit fabric so difficult to find?

Thanks to all three of you. I can see I’ve emailed the right crowd!

I found a wonderful corduroy on the Kaufman website, but I can’t find it for sale online yet. ARG-14005 in 2 color runs is full of adorable elephants. If anyone sees this for sale, I’d love to know where. Thanks.

I made 4 pairs of pjs for grandsons from these patterns. Both are really cute, but I prefer the Sleepover pattern because it seemed to come together better. I had trouble with the facing on the kimono of the Bedtime–a little tricky if you are using flannel rather than a light cotton. I think the only major benefit of the Bedtime is time: it’s quick project to finish.

Either of these plans will have issues, but either way works with Evernote.. It’s free. I’ve recently begun to archive all the web materials I collect–patterns, articles, web receipts, etc.–in easy-to-create notebooks up there in the cloud. Patterns are out of your email, out of your download files, easily retrieved and easily reprinted as many times as you wish. Having said this, I prefer 3 downloads. Good luck.

Why not buy a Bernina? I have a 1008 mechanical machine that is touted as a “workhorse” in classrooms and is just that! I love this machine because the stitches are always perfect, is easy to use, comes with many useful feet with many more new and used ones available and is easy to clean, oil and repair. Utube offers many tutorials and you can find the manual free online. Unfortunately, it does not come with an automatic buttonholer, but the manual one is easy to use. Ebay has good used machines in the range of $400, sometimes less, and I’m sure other sites offer them as well. Since they are so dependable, the Bernina 1008 is still manufactured and retails for around $1100 new.

Good luck and have fun picking out your machine. Happy Birthday!
