Yep! That’s what I would do. Surely you would only need to add one more on?

I just finished raw appliqueing on a cheap-o white T shirt. I did a snow flake pattern using some left over blue scraps. I wanted a “winter” shirt as opposed to a “Christmas” T, because then you only get a month out of that t shirt. I find my self using a “boys” t shirt instead of a girls. Boys shirts are cut with a longer torso, and my…[Read more]

I hope you feel much better soon Heidi. I was not in a good way on Wednesday and spent the day lying down – the world was spinning way too fast amongst other things.
I spent the morning and part of after lunch cutting things out. I have two pairs of Layette pants and three layette shirts ready to go in the pile. I want to break out the bubble…[Read more]

Ok, I have finished the three bodysuits – well I have to hand stitch two necklines but they are pretty much done.
Next on the list is to cut out two pairs of Layette pants, a jacket and two more bubble dresses.
That along with the School days jacket should keep me occupied for about a week I should think.

On my fabric sits the cat
And there’s nothing wrong with that
She protects it, you see
‘Cept sometimes when she pees
I’d rather her sit on the mat. With needle and thread in my hand…

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Collar drafting question in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
If I’m mixing patterns I try to keep collars with their matching necklines and sleeves with their armholes.
So here’s how I’d do it…
Pick a collar from another pattern. Music Class, Jump Rope, Fairy Tale etc.
Trace the Apple Picking pattern with the modifications you want.
Lay your tracing over the bodice part of the pattern you’ve chosen the…[Read more] -

Good point Sarvi, Becky have a look here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/how-you-bechickadee.html you can see how the collar is shaped.
To add a collar I would sew the shoulder seams and complete the front placket of the dress. I would then open the garment up a lie it flat.
Then take the collar of the Jumprope or Music…[Read more] -

Have you already made the apple-picking dress? The opening of the button placket is off-center, so the back of the collar would be asymmetrical — just something to bear in mind (I have a very pretty blouse with an asymmetrical collar, it can look very nice). Afraid I’ve never done a collar from scratch so no other suggestions, but will watch this…[Read more]

I might be a nerd but I actually love the ‘sausage’ posts. I actually think this is one of things about food blogging that is so interesting — every time Deb Perelman posts on Smitten Kitchen she gets 300 questions about why do you do this? what happens if I do that? and you start to understand the dish and the process really differently than if…[Read more]

Like Nicole says, it’s always best to check if you’re using a new pattern.
This is probably more information about how the sausage is made than you want to know, but what the heck. If you’re interested in a behind-the-scenes look, keep reading.

That is so fascinating about the ASTM children’s clothing standards, @todd. Does a similar standard exist for adult patterns?
-
@kahawa101, yes adult versions of the standards exist too.

Well I wouldn’t use the pattern I did! I managed it but it was a chore. Here it is: https://www.flickr.com/photos/64920483@N03/15280869470/
I would like to see how the Amy Butler one works out, the style is lovely.
