Thanks for the head’s up! You can find it kind of on the down low on youtube – people are nice enough to upload it. You have to do some creative searching; hopefully, that will be the case again. I absolutely love the series!

I also traced off the outline of the paper doll dress/cothing and colour photocopied the doll so I didn’t have to cut up the pattern cover. So I could make her a whole wardrobe of Oliver and S clothes in differnt “fabrics” 🙂
I’m up to cutting out my second musiln of the Penny Pinafore. I didn’t get much done yesterday as we had a great afternoon…[Read more] -

@jay_1965vw Yes, Northern Virginia. A meet-up would be fun! I don’t have many sewing friends here 🙂

That is a genius idea! I am totally stealing it for my girls – the oldest one in particular would love to design a wardrobe.

Just read your post- I love Alice Waters’ style of cooking! I discovered her for the first time when I went to Denver with a friend and visited a fantastic book shop (forgotten what it’s called but highly recommend it). I bought Simple Foods and one of hers on vegetables. This week I bought a secondhand copy of another one of hers as well. You can…[Read more]

I’ve photocopied the line drawings on the back to make colouring sheets. They are fantastic. I also put like 6 different ones on a page so that I (and my nieces and nephews) can design a “wardrobe”. provides a great afternoon of entertainment 🙂

We are going to be going through Buffalo in February and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a couple of fabric shops. I will have some birthday money to spend and would like to get some nice fabric to make something for myself. The gang will be with me so I can only stop at one or two stores tops. thanks!

@knitting1, you have the technique right, but your original photo is a bigger file than the fora can handle. Can you shrink it a bit? I use Picasa (which is a free download) to resize photos. Alternatively, you could upload the photo to flickr or another service and just post a link to the photo there. Looking forward to seeing it!
We do have a…[Read more]

Oh good, glad it was helpful. The book I mentioned is a thin little volume as she self published, I believe. But packed full of good stuff. I then bought more of her books to be able to understand fit. A lot like sewing to fit, isn’t it?!
Perhaps we could have a forum for non sewing related crafts, including cooking, if Liesl didn’t mind, of…[Read more]
