Timely thread – my (paper! Woohoo!) patterns arrived this afternoon and I was just reading the FBA directions on this – step 5 says to end the dart about 1″ from the marked apex, which seemed strange to me – but I guess your issue is why, Sarvi

Liesl has a number of fitting posts on the Lisette site. These posts are Big 4 relevant, not Liesl And Co.

Liesl and co patterns should match your ready to wear size. Other patterns may not. Here’s the blog post from Liesl about sizing….

Never send a man to measure:
We have an outdoor play set whose plastic canvas roof shred after about 8 years. Hubby measured and said the dimensions are 90x 39 and 45x 39. I added 4 inches to each for finishing the edges. So in terms of length where it mattered 94 + 49= 11.8 feet. I bought 4 yards of outdoor canvas. It is literally straight…[Read more]

Hi Sarvi, I like to end my darts about an 1″ to 1 1/2″ from my apex. I think the larger your bust the further back you end the dart.

I agree, if we wanted clothes that sort of fit we could buy off the rack — part of the pleasure of sewing yourself is taking a good solid pattern and making those tweaks that make it fit a unique individual’s body, as you say. I made this pattern in a size 5, last year and the child didn’t experience any problems. However, I drafted it without sleeves, and as I have some much smaller sizes planned, it’s good to get this feedback. I find that dear O + S vary in ease of getting over heads or getting arms into sleeves. I now bear this in mind when drafting patterns. A new…[Read more]
