My pictures hate me.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaWell, I should officially be the poster child for not sewing while sick.
After looking at the pattern pieces, I decided to cut size 5 with 6 length, since she always outgrows length first.
Yeah, I wasnt payong attention and thought I cut the waistband, and instead trimmed off my added length. Size 5 it is! Lol.
And now I cant fet the pant lwgs to match up. When i match the notches, the ends at crotch and ankle dont align.
Yay.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaYeah that’s what I am thinking.
I should say, the 4s have been short for awhile…..but it was summer and didnt matter lol. She is mostly all legs.
After consulting the finished measurements with her measurements, I think I should go with a 6, but double check the cuff as you said. Her outseam is running 24inches, where size 5 is 25.25 inches and size 6 is 27.5 inches. But I am unsure if that is folded cuff or full unfolded cuff lol.
As the 5 everywhere else is spot on for her measurements. She has a tiny waist, but that can be fixed with elastics as I said before lol.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaFantastic!
And I love your Rhymes with Shawl sweater! (I”m still in a bit of denial about DD’s….it got ruined at school and I need to rip out my yarn and snip out the pieces where the marker didn’t come out 🙁 )
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaI saw a blog today that added a stand collar to the negroni!

9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaExcellent idea! And I will practice on scraps before I do the pjs.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaYou can do all that on a regular machine—for the most part. It does look a bit different though. I have never been happy with the way mine looked using my machines (and I highly suspect it’s my machines themselves….they are old and I’m due for an upgrade). I didn’t want to spend money on a high end serger w/ both options until I knew I would use my serger on a regular basis. I do. I am sure at some point I will upgrade my serger later on. I guess I could sell my serger and get a combo serger/coverstitch. But I’m also ok having separate machines since I have the space.
The only real benefit (that I am aware of) to having separate machines is you don’t have to switch back and forth between the settings. I imagine it’s a lot like setting up between embroidery and sewing on combo units—which I Have and it’s a pain in my bum! HAHA!
I also want to branch out into different brands.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaGah, so I’m finally getting around to making one of these, I have the digital pattern. I think putting a little note about where these go would go a long way to clearing it up! (I”m making view b, so I was confused! LOL) Because technically, they both have “Snap plackets”….or at least, that’s what I was thinking….because you still use snaps, and are making a placket in view b.

9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaCreative roadblock. Roller Skate in dress or Tunic!!!!:????? I can’t decide. LOL I might have to make the dress, then trim the hems later.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaDoes anyone have suggestions for irons? I had a Rowenta for the last 4.5 years and for the last, really, 1.5+ years it’s been leaking. The last week it has gotten worse—so much so, I am worried it would become a fire hazard.
So, I’m in the market for a new iron. I’d love a tiny, cordless one, but I’m open to ideas/pricing!
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaAlso wanted to add: This board doesn’t tend to have that annoying “repeat” phenomenon you see on realllyyyy big ones, where people ask the SAME question over and over again every minute of the day. LOL. We are an easy going (and helpful) bunch ’round these parts.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaI don’t mind either way. But I usually do a quick board search first and try and resurrect old threads first, then start a new one if my question isn’t thoroughly answered or truly pertinent. But that is usually because some fantastic advice has been bestowed upon us by all the lovelies here and I like to have all of the tips and tricks all in one thread LOL.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaI took a break from O+s to finish up piecing the top of a baby quilt for my cousin. Now I just need to find backing (I have the perfect OOP fabric but do not have enough!!!!noooooo)
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaThat’s exactly Reeni was talking about with Fairy Tale—I made the view with sleeves, so never read the sleeveless view LOL. That worked perfectly! Now I just need to hand stitch it. WOOOT!
I’m really bad at explaining things some days. I probably should’ve uploaded a pic.
9 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaMmmmm I’ll need to look at fairy tale and see.
My pre-made binding is on the bias, so I’m good there. I just don’t like the way it looks with the dark navy at the arm holes vs at the neck only. I will play!
