Wow, that’s some nice stuff to come out of a chain store! We don’t have anything like that on this side. I sometimes with I lived a little closer to Japan.

Not only will it be more comfortable, it will wash and wear better as well. French seams are addictive!

I most often use cotton voile, eapecially for childs things and summer dresses. I buy it in large quantities in ivory and black and occasionally use other colors. I am the biggest fan of French seams I know, but I feel a little skeptical about adding flat piping. I suppose you would tuck it into the seam on the second pass? That could be tricky to align correctly. It will definiately add bulk, but if the fabric is lightweight maybe not too much.

Indeed! But I never get sick of making them! I love the Sarah Jane balloons. Last year I did her birthday in that theme. I think I saved enough of the parade print to make a skirt, not sure if there’s enough for a dress.

I don’t have the instructions in front of me, but could you sew a second dress in your lining fabric? Machine stitch them together at the neck, hand stitch them together at the back zip and at the sleeve cuff and finish the hems separately?
