Linda, what size and length of circular needles do you recommend to use with a sock weight yarn. The DNP’s are driving me crazy! I’ve got an easy pattern, it’s just the needles that are problematic.

Linda: I’m glad you have made the offer of knitting help on this forum. I’m new to knitting so I’m quite sure I will have a few queries for you!
My love of handwork and anything fibre related began as a child.
Over the years I’ve attempted just about every type of needlework from stumpwork to tatting to smocking. At one point I was totally…[Read more] -

I’m tackling a fake leather moto jacket for my teenage daughter. This is the most complicated pattern I’ve ever sewn…I hope it turns out nice!

Justine-We finally convinced BK to give up her special blanket (Yellow) as it was about to start falling apart. I’ve washed it and put it away in her keepsake box. I think I’m more sad than she is…she was my only kid with a special lovey.
I’m partway through a clever Charlotte orchid blouse for my middle girl. And I had a special request to…[Read more]

My Lisette Diplomat Tunic was the most viewed/favorited flickr photo for me. I’m pretty sure that was due to Explore. It’s such a dorky photo of me!lol My top 9 “interesting” photos on flickr are all Oliver + S (and 1 Lisette). The ruffle Class Picnic shorts and School Days raincoats are some of my personal favorites and they were #1 and #3…[Read more]

I did okay with mine. I sewed more for me (thanks to pattern testing) and used patterns and fabric that I had in my stash. I think I only bought a handful of new patterns. I was also a bit more intentional with my fabric purchases. But lack of discipline is still an issue!
@Sarvi Those one-yard cuts of quilting cottons that seemed like a good…[Read more]

It’s rough not having a good nights sleep…for both mom and kid! I hope the suggestions help, Jane. The Gro clock was going to be my piece of advice. It’s helped a lot of my friends with older kids (not baby/toddler) stay in bed.

Deb replied to the topic Fitting in the forum liesl + co: bistro dress 9 years ago
Perhaps get the dress on your daughter (inside out) before unpicking anything so you can play around by pinching dart and other areas first to see exactly where some re-construction is needed. That’s what I would do.
Then unpick the darts you mentioned if necessary, re-try on and pin to fit.Hopefully in the meantime someone who has made this…[Read more]

I haven’t made this dress. However when I’ve made a dress that needs some fine tuning, I turn it inside out, put it on the wearer and then pin like crazy making new darts, or wider side seams or raising shoulder seams – whatever the dress needs to make it fit better by using pins.
After the pinning process, mark those areas with wash out…[Read more] -
Deb replied to the topic Identify This Fabric Please in the forum off topic 9 years ago
Difficult to determine the exact type of fabric but you’ll find something that looks similar in the bridal section of a fabric store.
A quick search say’s the dress designer is Christopher Lawrence and he found a vintage cut-out fabric (the circles) that he lay over the dress top and the hem section is airbrushed in a pattern he calls hidden…[Read more] -

Jaimielaura: I recently bought a Janome Coverpro 1000 CPX and love it. I’ve got several attachments to do elastic etc., but mostly only use it to do hems….which it does so professionally.
If you go to patternreview.com there is a section that reviews coverstitch machines so you can read what owners have to say. -
