Have you tried the fold in half, fold in the edges to meet and fold press then topstitch, to make roulette?

Or use a similar colour in a lighter fabric. My hair ties did not work well.

I know you can purchase blackout fabric in white or black, and it’s designed to be durable and to really block out the light. I am preparing my pieces for the culottes sew-along and my fusible interfacing is refusing to adhere to my fabric. Very maddening! I have no idea why but I am getting it to stick just enough.

The pocket definitely works, I have just made one, but by all means leave it off.

I went with the lining attached to the bodice and then did a few cm’s stitch-in-the-ditch sewing at the front back and side seam.
I hand sewed the lining to the zipper.

Thank you so much, I was pretty much flummoxed on this on and it turned out so nicely.

From the hem will be fine on these!

I’m sure! I really, really appreciated the difference when I started sewing for myself. On tiny garments I didn’t mind doing finicky finishes but on an adult-sized garment that I hoped to wear in this lifetime, it was remarkable how much quicker it was. Good tools are such a pleasure to use.
