I can’t do it right now, but if folks don’t mind waiting a little bit I’ll start up groups for cooking and for fiber club. Thanks, Todd and Mr Minnesota!

Ooh, consider binding the arm holes, it gives a lovely finish.

In general, it’s fine to cut across the grain. The cross grain and length grain (weft and warp) are ALMOST interchangeable in many instances. Cross grain with have more stretch, and length grain is usually stronger and may drape a little better. But if you’re working with cotton and kids clothes, there really won’t be too much of a difference. Just FYI.

After reading my own post, I would just baste and neaten the dress and lining together and then add the yoke, as per usual.

Snow sounds so exciting to me, but I gather the mud that comes with it is not so beautiful.
Stay safe Melanie!

The only time I got caught out cutting against the grain was with a silk Birthday Party dress.
I cut the ties, one side with the grain one side against, and the against side stretched a bit.Handle it carefully and it should be fine

Oh, that’d be so lovely, Nicole, and what a lucky baby that gets you set loose among some Liberty to sew for her.

Gosh, I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon! I’d love to include some embroidered details and maybe lace insertion — does that count as an heirloom technique?
Yes, it’s so early this year! The first step is to see if last year’s Easter Dress fits. I hope so, but she has recently gone through a growth spurt. It had lace and pintucks in the bodice and around the skirt.
Sarvi….ABSOLUTELY!! Both embroidery and lace insertions are heirloom {in our book}! Sounds like a great plan, Meleliza…start with what you’ve got, and go from there! As for us, we know what we WANT to do, but if it gets done is yet to be determined.
