@thesimpson5 I am pretty new to this fitting business but I find if my seams are on the outside they are easier to adjust.

I finished my jeans. I had a few issues with the back yoke fit but I have that sorted now (I think), and have cut a second pair.

Tamara started the topic Question about sending private messages in the forum about the forums 8 years ago
I was just wondering why some messages send and some don’t. I have been attempting to reply to a message for the past five months and well it won’t send! (@robin I haven’t forgotten!) is it because it has a character length? I don’t see anything that states it.
It is a little frustrating. Any advice?

Thank you, @justsewit for chiming in. I really appreciate it. I wondered if swayback might be what I was dealing with. I’ve got the book Fit for Real People and that was the only thing I could find that looked like it might be the problem. I just haven’t really noticed that on anything else I’ve made, so I wanted someone else’s opinion! I do…[Read more]

@thesimpson5 I am very sure Liesl and some other ladies will chime in here. I had a good look at the photos and from what I can see is there are wirnkles that are not “it’s too tight” wrinkles but “there’s too much fabric” wrinkles on the skirt part of the back dress. They are pointing away but look baggy which says to me you need to take it up…[Read more]

I could use a little help here sewing friends. I’ve successfully made a small bust alteration and feel really good about my muslin as far as that goes. However, the backside has some problems and I’m not sure whether to adjust the darts or adjust at the center back seam. I tried taking it in some along the center back seam, but that didn’t seem to…[Read more]

Tamara replied to the topic French seams for the side seam? in the forum oliver + s: class picnic 8 years ago
Hi Jennifer I can confirm that French seams can be done on the side seams as I have done them myself. I did a 1/4 inch wrong sides together then trimmed to 1/8inch, pressed the seam and turned the whole side through to the inside pinned and stitched again using a 1/4 inch seam. The fact that the arm and body are intact should not make a difference…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Lengthen culottes in the forum oliver + s: lunch box tee + culottes 8 years ago
The culottes have a very dropped crotch, so this is one pattern where you’d probably get away with not making changes.
However, beware making such big size changes as you’ll lose the proportions of the pattern and could end up with something quite odd.
Perhaps you could make the 2T with size 4 leg length.
You could run a tape measure from front…[Read more] -

I didn’t get very far with the Archers over the weekend. Between a poorly baby and power outages it was a no win. Instead I taped together a few pdf’s in preparation for the next things I want to make. I also traced and cut out a few more things, not too many mind. I measured the boy who seems to have slimmed out slightly (which is always good)…[Read more]
