I get all my laundry tips via my husband who passes them on from a mate who’s an industrial chemist. You never know when that kind of knowledge will be handy!
Nice to see you here. -

I agree as to the vote with your dollar. It pains me to shop for clothes – my kid likes to wear super simple little tanks – they sell them at Target for $5. I really hate to buy them, but I do. Those tanks, and underwear and socks are pretty much the only “new” items I personally buy her. I’m trying to buy her shoes made in the US or Europe at…[Read more]

I have to endure big bang theory alot! Murray claims it helps him to sleep! I want to kick the tv out the door because it keeps me awake!
Another program I liked was Once upon a time. It was a nice twist on the use of fairy tale characters.
And Maleficent, even though rated M, I let my kids watch it because it was such a great story. Of course I…[Read more]

I’m looking forward to checking out the links when I get home and I have one or two to post. I also struggle with the ‘what is ethical’ question, thinking about it is overwhelming. I am keen to consume less and make my choices more wisely. I suppose I think I think I have purchasing choices, so I can do a little something with them. It may not…[Read more]

We watch The Big Bang Theory but I find I’m not laughing as much these days. And I really, really dislike Bernadette.
I used to like New Girl but I haven’t seen it in a while.
Friends was a favourite way back when, but I never watched the last 2.5 seasons. Now that it is on Netflix maybe I should remedy that.
Torchwood is horribly, gloriously…[Read more]

Did anyone catch the story on “Last Week Tonight” (HBO) that dealt with this?
You can see it here on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdLf4fihP78 (some bad language involved). Very interesting and also entertaining.

We have foxtel which, when I get the chance gives me the opportunity to watch Outlander (can’t wait for the new series), Grimm (hubby loves this one), Our Zoo, Call the Midwife and lately, Frankie. I am excited about the new Hart of Dixie series starting Thursday.
At the moment it is an episode of The block triple threat and then Big bang theory,…[Read more]

We watched Daredevil on Netflix too but I was almost repulsed by the violence. A bit too much (and that is coming from someone who likes Game of Thrones – although I have issues with the gratuitous nudity in that).
Doctor Who is a favourite (going to the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff this summer – yay!) as well as Torchwood.
Outlander is so…[Read more] -

I had a much-needed day off from work yesterday after being immersed in a huge project at work since just after New Years. It’s all finally done and I spent the day sewing up a storm.
I made a Metro tee for a friend, and a skirt and tank top for her daughter as well as a skirt for my girl. Then at the very last moment before school pick-up I…[Read more]

Ellen the music class blouse was one of the first patterns I used. It was and continues to be a favourite. In fact I have just purchased some Liberty earmarked for a long sleeved version but I have the other things mentioned above to tackle first. I tried making one with bound seams and my machine refused to do some of the buttonholes because it…[Read more]

Haha! No, I meant I lack the skill to do French seams as well as you do! But I couldn’t resist mentioning your other favorite topic, hehe.

I believe I was the person Nicole mentioned above — at any rate I am the lucky recipient of an exquisite silk dress fitting that description. Nicole is right, while the bound seams at the armscye are gorgeous to behold (and very comfortable on that particular dress because of the fit) oftentimes the most practical solution for that specific seam…[Read more]

No sewing today but eventually this week will have me finishing off the corduroy puppet show dress I had started, but not before I do some tidying up in the sewing room first. I tend to get messy when I create!
Then it is gritting the teeth and getting into “ball dress” making mode. And then I can get back to some fun baby sewing again.
