I love them as well – my daughter is on her 3rd pair…that have now sadly been chewed through by our puppy. I am going to stitch them together however….but they totally last; I hand them down to our friends when outgrown and they really look brand new. Super comfortable (per my kid) – sad though that she can’t wear sandals to school.

As someone who spends a lot of money on children’s shoes I feel qualified to answer 😉
They are awesome!
My American galpals put me on to them. I can buy them new for about $70 AUS, which is half the cost of the Gavarlin shoes I was sending them to school in and they last so well. They don’t scuff, we clean them at night with a wet one ( inside…[Read more]

When I post a reply to a topic I don’t see my reply after clicking Submit – I end up at the first page of the thread instead.
I haven’t been on the forums much lately so I’m not sure if this is new or if that’s how it always worked.
ETA: And of course it didn’t do that this time. Ok, then the post I noticed it in was the “What are you sewing…[Read more]

I finished Sofia’s chocolate biscuit shirt in time for Picture Day and she said all her friends wanted to eat her up when she wore it.
I have ordered more pink twill to make a new pair of Field Trip pants for her. She loved the old pair so much (as did I) I decided to track down some of that pink twill. It won’t be here for a few more days so I…[Read more]

No, but seriously – the speed of a click is not something you can control – you either click or you don’t.
My guess is Flickr is having server issues and the photos where you can’t comment are on affected servers whereas pictures that work are on healthy servers. Give it a day or two and try again.

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoSome great ideas here!
A ‘fun’ dessert I make for parties is ‘frogs in mud puddles’
Small cups half filled with chocolate custard with plump greens grape ‘frogs’ hiding in it.
Serve with a wee spoon.

Sorry to those of you waiting but it probably won’t be until next week. Once we hand things off to the printer we lose a lot of control of the timetable and this round things are taking longer than usual.

I saw them on instagram @katybellabug, so sweet!
I finished Jed’s jeans, super heavy denim but they should wear well. I used some scraps from his Liberty shirt to make the pocket bags and line the back yoke.
Next up, a muslin of the Lisette Attache peplum top for Elsa’s 16th birthday sew.

I haven’t sewn much of anything all summer so I decided to ease into it with a simple project of a Field Trip tee for Picture Day on Monday. I used a soft knit fabric with chocolate biscuits on it and she didn’t want to take it off after the first try-on. I had to convince her that knits need hemming too.
I also need to trace the size 10 Field…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoThat grey cord is yummy!
Liesl recommended reversing the nap of the cord for a really lush look, I always do that now and it does look wonderful.I crazy love that lining fabric. If you are worried you will be too warm (which I doubt, in Canada brrr) you could line the sleeves with the silk stuff and use a cotton or lawn for the body or just the back?

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoHi Lisa.
I love love love that pattern and your fabric choice is gorgeous but…. may I suggest you definitely request a sample?
I regularly run the gauntlet of unusual fabric choices but the description does say heavy and there is no mention of apparel at all.
You would also have some pattern matching to do with the plaid.
Also, it is dry clean…[Read more] - Load More
