Was feeling a bit off today so I sat the kids in front of the TV and retreated to the basement. Finished the boy’s sleepsack (just in time, it got cold again tonight) and sewed him a new pair of LTTS mittens out of the remaining fleece. My sewjo may be coming back!
(BTW, my autocorrect tried to change “sewjo” to “sewage.”)

Every time someone asks me about fleece, I always give the same answer – the old Malden Mills – now this website: http://www.millyardage.com/ for yardage. That’s what I used to make my daughter a hooded sweatshirt from the raglan shirt pattern recently – I used Polartec 100 weight which I got at a ridiculous sale for $2.25/yard. I definitely…[Read more]

I find this list so useful, thank you Kim!
I use it for a checklist and (dangerously) a shopping list too for all the ones I haven’t got and want!

And so I was curious to try again…
an online search finds lots of reprographic shops in my large capital city. Most of which are only listed as a business directory listing and would need a phone call to see what they can do. About a dozen had websites. Most of them only offered A3 or A2 at biggest. One or two offered A0.
Eventually I found one…[Read more] -

@Sarvi, the problem is that the largest standard paper size in Australia is what’s known as A0 which, in inches, measures 33.1×46.8
(link: http://www.papersizes.org/a-paper-sizes.htm)
There are some PDF’s which might print fine on that if you check first that they don’t go beyond about 33″ of the intended 36″ print. But plenty of others would lose…[Read more] -

It’s time for my favourite show
But to the sewing room I surely must go -

There once was a quilter named Lizzy
But quilting was making her dizzy
So she looked for a dress
She could sew to impress
But the prints she had all were too busyNext limerick:

Getting back into the sewing groove finally, though it’s hard to force myself down into the basement to do so (no windows there). I just finished up the birthday princess dress marathon. Sadly, I have really grown to despise sewing princess dresses.
I have had a Playtime dress cut out for older DD for ages but it sits, unseen. Got 90 percent…[Read more]

Since we’ve moved, I’m in the basement (windowless, sob) too, Cybele. I find that I sew much less 🙁 Part of it is that I do have a great deal less time to sew than I used to, and part of it is that I hate being in a windowless space. I have grand plans to hang some tapestries on the walls and decorate the exposed beam ceiling with twinkle…[Read more]

I’ve had great success with Snap Source products. Their Snapsetter is pretty much fool proof and their Snaps are good quality. Oliver + S sell a Snapsetter and snaps.

I have a daylight lamp similar to this one, just an older model

The magnifying glass is a godsend for working on dark fabrics.

I’m so glad you’ve got this sorted @meleliza. I have to confess that whenever I see a thread about PDFs with your name on it, I have to look. Kind of like watching motor racing for the crashes.
(please don’t take that unkindly, I genuinely sympathise with your frustration too).
I wish it was so easy down under. Our largest standard paper size is…[Read more] -

Costs me $9.00 in Canada at my local print shop. Call a place that prints blue prints. You’ve been working on this for a long time.

What about these from Land’s End? They’re no longer for sale, and the reviews are sketchy, but the picture might be enough to get you started. I swear Sophie had a pair like these and I loved them. -

Oh Jenny, that is going to be horrible if the temperature gets that high. That’s a lot of flooding. Fingers crossed for everyone.
