Dear Jen,
so sorry that life is such hard work at present but I think you’ve chosen a great pattern to restore your mojo. I want to try the multipanel Swing Skirt even the weather here is too chilly, really. Just for the fun of putting some ‘half-yard’ pieces together to make a pretty combo. Amazing to think that your little girl is 6 and 1/2,…[Read more] -

An Aussie Autumn with some new O + S patterns won’t be the same; however, our Spring should be fun when the new book comes out. Very much looking forward to it.

Judging from what many authors (in general) say about preparing and writing their books (novels etc). It is one mammoth task. September seems so long away but it will be here before you know it. I mean it’s mid year already this year is a flying!
I am looking forward to this book. And thanks for the big hint there @todd😉 It must be very difficult…[Read more]

I can’t decide which is my size
Do I go by my waist or my thighs?
I could measure my head
Or my chest instead
Just so long as it has enough rise! The season for sewing has changed

You can think of the book that will be out in September as one gigantic, huge Oliver + S pattern. Or a large number of Oliver + S patterns.
But that’s all I’m saying for now….

😳 my message disappeared!!!
@cybele727 so glad you “found” the popover.
@motherof5 guess what?! I found some denim/wool blend!!! At my local Spotlight!!! I told the woman at the counter they won the fabric lotto. There were two kinds, one that had this plush look about it almost like corduroy but not and a gold/blue thing happening. The other…[Read more]

Why don’t you colour block and cut the 2 for the top and then make it wider, gradually, with a bit of trimming as you go?

@eboyd83 I have tried a few but my latest ones are from Cash’s name labels.
They have been the best, and if you contact them directly they will do a large bulk order.

There is rumoured to be a new book
The cover, it has a good look
But I just can’t decide
If I step up or hide
Perhaps a challenge to be undertook(I know, bad past tense 🙂 )
I can’t decide which is my size

So I measured Ms. 6.5. Her chest is 22.5 inches, which is a size 2. The length she needs is 27 inches. That’s about a size 7. Generally I am making size 7 dresses for her (eg- the hopscotch).
I can’t see cutting a size 2 width and a size 7 length!
Got advice? (other than make a muslin… I am lazy today and need a quick fix for finding my mojo!1)

So I have been in an absolute FUNK. 🙁
This primary election business is getting to me because of all the vitriol and I can’t simply turn away because it is our future. (US) (That’s all I will say about politics here.)
And work has been icky. I’ve had to deal with more people who think that fists are an acceptable form of communication…[Read more]

I’m wearing a merino fleece Metro T right now! Have a look at http://www.thefabricstore.com.au the have an L.A. store so US shipping should be reasonable.
There’s an amazing outdoor fabric supplier in the UK that I’ve purchased from, and I keep finding one in Canada when I’m searching online, but I forget the name…. -

Oh I love it Heidi! It is so comfortable that I confess to living in it a bit too much since it was made. It has the stains of life on it😜.
I am tossing up what to use to make another whilst struggling to type this and contain a climbing toddler at the same time. I have more kaufman laguna knit but I also want to make an Appleton top.
I know it…[Read more]
