  • I’ve only just realised I haven’t smocked anything for Chloë apart from the school days jacket and the carousel dress. Of course I am planning to use smocking in the Easter dress. Being currently away from home, the plans are halted somewhat but the mind is still buzzing with ideas.

You might want to have a peek at the older threads about this pattern. Folks who want a tuck-in style shirt often add some length, and there’s discussion there about how much to add for which size.

    I don’t know whether there’s been a second printing…[Read more]

  • Rather than using a different pattern, why not just cut two versions of the facing.
You’ll have a waistband with a top seam, but that can be a nice feature and help prevent elastic rolling.
Or, trim the seam allowance off the top edge of the facing piece then cut it with the length on the fold. That way you avoid the seam at the top.
    Either way,…[Read more]

The sewing machines are coming on holiday with me! The playsuit was mucked up as I attached the front to the back pieces and totally forgot about the shoulder pieces! I think I threw the scraps out and I realised I didn’t cut all the facing pieces.

I am going to try and get some more of this print as the shorts side of the playsuit were all…[Read more]

I botched a Briar t shirt today😕. Will have to try again. I have printed out the metro tee pattern (again) and will lengthen this to a dress and use it with the magenta knit with little sequins, in a bid to have something Taylor Swift would wear for a themed dinner on Wednesday night. This will be a size medium for the eldest girl.

Thanks @todd for this helpful information. From what I can gather, needlewoman2 has been off for a good while and I think it would have been something different, possibly related to her computer perhaps. I am not sure but I will pass on the information you have provided above, in the hope that it does improve the issue for her.

    I didn’t get the…[Read more]

    Hello everyone

I had an email from Needlewoman2 the other day. She asked if I would be so kind as to post something on the forum for her. She is not able to login at all! I am wondering how we can best help her with this?

@todd would you be able to help at all?

    She writes….

This week I made a Library dress from Amy Butler love fabric (the one with the bouquets) in size 12-18 months for Chloë and a traveller dress to fit me in navy linen and used red thread to attach the buttons.

I have to finish three t shirts – Megan Neilsen Briar and a simplicity playsuit for my eldest.

Looking forward to seeing the tees, Nicole.

I am halfway through a quilt (my first!) for a friend’s baby. I took a break to participate in Kids Clothes Week. I’ve made a peplum School Bus Tee and two sets of interlock pjs for my boys (using the Playtime Legging, Field Trip Tee and School Bus Tee patterns). I have a knit top cut out using the…[Read more]

  • I want to make my husband a metro tee but I am unsure what fabric to use. I am a cotton/lycra jersey loyalist when it comes to myself and the kids, but none of my husband’s tees are made with a lycra blend. I am not necessarily looking for that beefy, non-stretchy jersey that many men’s tees are made of. And I guess recovery isn’t that important…[Read more]

Babies grow far, far too fast.
Their childhood I know will not last
    Some days might drag on

  • @with-love-heidi, your layette is divine!

I lined some wool dungarees I made Trixie with lawn.

They are brilliant as the wool is naturally water repellent keeping her dry when she toddles in wet grass.
    Great choice!
