I’ve used the Cloud 9 flannels before and liked them — the ‘pink’ is more of a peach/apricot:
Maybe elephants in peach for her, aqua for him? Or elephants for him, foxes for her?

Maybe pick a common colour to use in both and go from there. Maybe do one with the main fabric a spot with the trim striped and reverse the combo for the other pair. Of course they don’t have to use the exact same fabrics but it would be fun to see them done this way with a coordinating colour to tie it all in.

Nicole, did you find that the bodysuit was sized to fit over cloth diapers, or should I go up a size? My new niece is due any second and she will be wearing cloth 🙂

Yes, I have done it. Just lay the pieces out and see where they will all fit before cutting.

Didn’t get to cut out the bubble dress this morning and only arrived home shortly before the school bus. So we have been busy prepping to put up the Christmas tree all afternoon since.
I want to put a full day of sewing in both tomorrow and Friday though. All these doctors appointments have me away from the machine too many times but they are as…[Read more]

Ok thanks. I am figuring they would be good to do a baby sweat pant type thing but it is summer here so I won’t be doing anything of the sort at least five months. I was thinking of jersey or something similar that is lighter so will have a play I think and see how it goes.

Just wondering if anyone has made the pants with a knit fabric? How did they go? I am thinking of making a couple for a newborn and work from there.

I have the press thingy – its green. But they are a cinch to put in with it. The only thing is you have to just keep changing the knobs and of course they come in sized sets. I use the 16’s on the layette things I have made and they work just fine. But the original intention was to make my own nappies (and I haven’t even started yet!)

That sounds about right to me!
Knits may be quick to sew but to get a quality looking garment you have to put in the time to get the grain straight and the fabric smooth.
I like to lay my fabric out a few hours before cutting to let it relax and re shape. Ball point pins are great as is using a combination of pins and weights.

I have been using the KAM one and they seem to be fine. Except they are a pain if you put them in the wrong way!
