I finally got some time to sew on Friday night, so I made up two pairs of Playtime leggings (I think this brings my total to 15 or 16), a quick knit maxi skirt for my 4-year-old and some linen pacifier leashes for the baby. It felt so good to sew!

This step is sewing the pleats. So long as you fold the fabric right sides together it doesn’t technically matter whether you hold it as in the picture (folded side on the left) or turn it upside down (folded side on the right).
If you flip it and have the fold on the right but the markings still at the top then it’s all still the same.
Just sew…[Read more] -

Lovely, thank you Nicole.
I have made them for PE and don’t want them to be too restrictive.
I will try it! -

Sew Alongs 10 years agoI commented on flickr too, but what size are you making? I made the 12, 18 and 4 (have a 7 cut) and depending on the stretch of my knit I had to ease the collar. On a few of them I clipped just a tiny bit (like 2-3 notches) of the collar on the front sides, the back was fine on all of them. The notches are especially helpful on this one.

I find if I carefully stretch the main to match the binding, just a bee’s whisker mind, there are less puckers.

I would slash and spread along the middle of the buttock and mark the point on the facing adding the same amount to that.

I have just made up a pair of size 10 picnic shorts and after trying them on her, they are a little snug around the bottom.
Otherwise the fit is fine.
I made them from a stretch woven but it still too tight.I am not sure how to alter them, should I just slash and spread (which is my usual method) and if I do, where? and how do I alter the…[Read more]

Yes I made it and it worked fine. I ended up using silk dupioni for the yoke. https://www.flickr.com/photos/23557464@N03/8260534376/in/dateposted-public/

Good on you Heidi. I donated a tub of cut out WIP’s last year. Very cathartic. I am like an ex-smoker now. I cut-I sew. I am terrified of going back to that!
Tonight I finished Zara’s Lisette Moto jacket (B6169). We went with the size 6 with an inch off the waist. Zara chose the leftovers from Hugo’s jacket, charcoal wool and we splurged on some…[Read more]
