Bumped the Birthday shirt to draft the Fire Fly jacket as Zara’s coat died whilst being laundered today.

I hope I can get it made by Monday morning as it is still so cold here!

It probably will be for you. I had the rip out and alter the sleeve length 3 times. I was afraid to cut too much. It would have been better if I had just adjusted the pattern. The bell sleeves, the straight part ends just above the elbow. Also be careful cutting if you use 45″ fabric. There was just enough fabric for size 7. Lay the pattern pieces right on the edge of the fabric. You have to lay the pattern pieces on one layer of fabric and flip them. I love the pattern. Another mistake I made is I wanted to add two inches in length so I cut the pattern half way up the part that I thought was the body and added a 2 inch strip but later figured out that I added length to the sleeve not the body. The body is the part with the buttons. Still, I eventually shortened the sleeves 71/2 inches. I think I also must have cut them the full length instead of for the bell sleeve length. I must have had cloudy thinking while I was cutting the pattern. Maybe all of that is the reason it was so tight placing the pattern on the fabric.

I LOVE the finished Firefly Jacket! I am going to make another one with 2 other colors soon. I might use denim.

I just made a bucket hat. It wasn’t in my enormous pile of “stuff to be done” but somehow this week I’ve added to that pile by cutting out 7 hats from 4 different patterns all in different sizes. I thought I’d have a hat sewing pattern degustation and try a little of every hat pattern I had….

This one was Oliver + S Little Things To Sew Bucket Hat and it was very ncie to sew!

Hat party! Sounds so fun! My kids all have a few of these and love everyone.

I am working on a sail boat outfit for the baby for fall right now. I was going to make a Natutre walk outfit but this was calling my name. Then a sail boat top or two for Sweet pea. I just love the look of the tops and seem easy to sew from the pattern.

Trying my hand at heirloom sewing and now have visions of the Playdate dress with a lace bodice!!! Nearly severed the front piece whilst cutting the excess fabric away from the newly attached lace – and consequently nearly gave up! Slowly making progress and will hopefully have the dress almost complete tonight – and then the easy peasy petticoat later in the week.

Apple dress is earmarked for Tuesday when I can indulge in all day sewing again.

Hat number two completed…. this time another LTTS Bucket hat, only a small one, with shoestring straps for little A who probably will not wear it as she has thus far refused to wear any hat I’ve made

Another day another hat. Number three in hat week completed. The last LTTS Bucket hat made with leftovers to match the Secret Agent coat. This is definitely a nice hat pattern. I think I like the oval shape. Will be interesting to see how the construction and shape compares to the next hat pattern in the pile….

Have just finished tracing and cutting out the pattern pieces in two secret agent trench coats (size 12 and 8). Over the weekend I finished a size 10 MIP basic Tee and a (except for the hem) size 2 hopscotch with a pieced back (not enough fabric so I added a plain yoke to the back). The size 2 hopscotch is sooooooo tiny, (and cute) I hope it fits.

Trudging along slowly with this baby outfit of lace – Edwardian baby daygown in blue spot voile. The fancy band is giving me grief because the lace motifs won’t match to make an invisible join. I am hoping to have the sleeves firmly attached, binding and all tonight and with any luck the bottom fabric frill will be made into a circle, had the lace edging attached and be ready for a morning’s workings to finally finish the main sewing of this dress once and for all!

Sewing lace together takes a lot longer than it looks I have discovered!

Sports carnival on Friday I have an unfinished blue hopscotch top to finish off!

I am half way through the Birthday shirt and I am sure it is evil.

This fabric is the nastiest stuff I have ever sewn and I handled some funky fabric sewing wermaid costumes.

Elsa loves it though,so that is good.

Hat number 4 ticked off….

This one was from a Nicole Mallalieu pattern. No mention of clipping into seams, somehow one is supposed to “ease” these completely opposite curves together. The photo illustrations didn’t even show any pins. Impossible surely!

Well, I clipped seams and pinned away, using the technique from the LTTS book. Thanks Liesl. Hats made easy.
