I posted what I was sewing months ago…….I’m just now making progress. (Thanksgiving break has been filled with lots of sewing!!!) I made a Family Reunion dress for my daughter to wear to her “Gammie’s” for Thanksgiving and last night I stitched up an Ice Cream Dress……but the hem facing has some puckers, so I’m going to re-do it this morning and hopefully whip up a pair of Sleepover pj’s. (I have 3 pairs cut.) When those are done, I think I’m going to attempt a Sunday Brunch jacket and skirt for my daughter to wear for Christmas……..or a Playdate Dress…..haven’t decided yet! : )

Nicole, Do you watch the Little Mermaid while sewing those mermaid costumes? Just teasin’!

Adrienne, The Sunday Brunch outfit is darling but so is the Playdate dress. Yay for time over Thanksgiving to sew!

I’v sewing clothes, clothes, and more clothes…trying to plug holes in the kids’ wardrobes that all of a sudden appeared. I got some tracing done today from LTTS and am thinking of doing the doll dress for A Little Gray’s sewalong to fulfill November’s project. Today will be about hemming some knit tops (Hopscotch and an Ottobre) and maybe starting on a pair of pants that has been laying cut out for over a week.

I have a few things that still require handsewing, elastic buttons etc. I’m going to do them gradually.

Doll clothes on the backburner. I’ve had grumpy poorly children this past week so haven’t done as much as intended.

PJ’s are next up and I plan to bury myself in fabric and sewing materials on returning from an unexpected school run. They have to be done before Wednesday night as miss 9’s class is camping (in tents) at school – they ran out of weekends before the school year ends.

    Adrienne,Thank you!

What a seriously kind thing to say! You have made my day!

I have to admit I have never seen ”The Little Mermaid” but one of the girls was given a horrid toy shaped like a harp which played ”Under the Sea” ”A Whole New World” and ”Be My Guest”,it used to make me want to stick my head in the oven!

I still hum those jolly tunes!

Excellent idea Cindy, fill the gaps rather then ”pretty” sewing for Sundays!

I hope the kidlets are better soon Tamara!

Thanks Nicole, she is better – just an ear infection which resulted in my having to exchange the plum pudding sewing session in her class on Friday for an hour’s sojourn at the hospital (doctor was in another town doing a stint there). She’s back at school today and happy because she won’t miss the sewing project or the sleepover.

The other child is the grumpy one because of doing the wrong thing at the town pool the other day in front of everyone and consequently is grounded – he’s just feeling the effects of his punishment and learning that doing the right thing is better for everyone in the long run and that school is non negotiable despite said grounding and hiding shoes 2 minutes before the bus arrives.

Ok getting the bearings done everything for everyone else – hopefully they are all satisfied and now it is my turn to sew!

    Pj’s here I come.

Marvellous sleepover pj pattern! went mad making a pair today for miss 9 and this class tent adventure on Wednesday. I decided I didn’t have time to fiddle and make short summer versions so went for a change of season type look with cotton but long sleeves and legs.

Tried on pants made in size 12 and they have lots of room and are quite long so am very happy seeing as she is at the tall end of a size 12. I’m hoping she can get lots of wear out of these once the weather starts cooling down again in about April.

Thought I’d finished but realised they haven’t any pockets and really would benefit from them so will finish them off tomorrow morning.

I also have decided to whip up a pair of after school pants to go with a hopscotch top (already made) for playing games in at 8pm!! I know my children are usually asleep by that time but I’m not in charge that night so all routine flies out the window. I’ve decided a tan coloured drill will do the trick for these and I aim to cut them out tomorrow morning also with a view of sewing them in the afternoon after coming home from school. They will at least keep her from the chilly and possibly windy night air.

    Almsot done, Nicole!

Tamara, When’s Presentation Night and what patterns are you using?

Now that the little girl dresses are done, it’s time for a 2+2 skirt for the big girl. She needs it by tomorrow night….

Cindy, Presentation night is our end of school year(I suppose you could call it) concert. Because we have a combined primary and High school everyone in the school is involved. Each class gets to do something, generally singing (very out of tune to recorded music) a song of their choice (that is appropriate of course). The class awards are presented and various community organisations come to award scholarships for high school and we have to sit there and watch.

This year my daughter needs to dress in a Christmas shirt or a red or green shirt. Well because we don’t have Christmas shirts in the wardrobe good ol’ mum here has decided to sew one instead. We’ve decided to team it with a skirt. So the patterns miss 9 has chosen is the Finch top (cc) “done in a way where the bow is the bow on a gift” and the Music class skirt which according to her is her all time favourite.

I’ve got some christmas cotton (it was on the 50% off table at Spotlight) which is black with decorations on it. I’ll use that for the skirt and bow of the top. As for making it look gift like, well that is why I’m going nowhere this week!

I think I will start on it today provided the power stays on.

Finishing up two little tops for the Twins to wear to a party Friday night.

Then I have 2 Tea Party dresses and some napkins and matching table cloth to finish before Monday night as we have a Christmas Party to attend.

Finished! One Santa suit a.k.a sleepover pyjamas in red and white topped off with cardboard beard and a plastic black belt – very santa-ish.

One Christmas bauble printed Music class skirt and cc finch top to match.

Presentation night over and done with phew!

Now onto much needed summer play clothes and Christmas things.
