Congratulations, janimal! I hope you’re both doing well. I’m so impressed you can actually think of sitting after only just 14 days. 😉 I like to keep off those bits for a good long while after pushing out 9 lbs of baby! Heehee. Boy stuff is occasionally fun, especially when they’re babies and toddlers.

janimal, I can’t believe I missed your post about the new little man. Congrats and sorry that I missed it before. I have been reading your blog and waiting to see when he would get here. Enjoy the time with him!

Congratulations Janimal. boys can be so much fun so enjoy him. You should get alot of use out of the sandbox and sketchbook patterns aswell as the nature walk patterns for him and sewing for little boys especially can be fun when using prints to do with his interests as he grows. If he’s anything like my son, you’ll need to lock the sewing machine inside the playpen with him on the outside! Most boys I know tend to be bells and whistles type kids, meaning they like knobs and latches and anything they can pull push or twist – sewing machines are no exception. At the end of the day though, when he is old enough, teach your boy how to use the machine properly and you never know, he may build a passion for sewing like yours.

I spent Monday and Tuesday sewing two sketchbook shirts for mr N and am now up to doing the buttons and handsewing the collar (leaving them for more items that require buttonholes so I can do them all together). I also got started on the hopscotch skirt made from the MW red, orange and yellow ricrac lines print that I’d had sitting there for quite a while. I plan to try and finish that today and sew buttons on this afternoon while waiting for piano lessons to finish (if I can’t go visit a friend in town that is).

I discovered I’d cut out two afterschool shirts, one with shortened sleeves so will endeavour to finish them before the week is out along with the Music class shirt I’d forgotten about.

On Friday I’m taking my daughter’s class (year 2/3’s) in a Christmas sewing session – we’re making Plum Pudding Christmas ornaments for the tree. Really looking forward to spending time in the classroom and showing the children some valued skills. I did a project with her class last year where we made little felt mice and the children loved it – the level of creativity that comes out of them at a time like this is incredible so I’m hoping the anticipation and excitement is the same from these kids this year.

Congratulations Sharon, take good care and eat lots of veggies and get lots of sleep! Conceiving so soon after surgery means you need to take extra special effort to be healthy, especially with number 5!

I hope you get a pink one!

I have finished the yellow shorts,so cute! I start on the coordinating navy/white micro check shirt tomorrow.

At the moment I am hand sewing ”scales” on mermaid costumes.

I finished the first of picnic blouses in cheap Joann flannel, but wow it is such a wonderful pattern it looks amazing anyway. She look absolutely perfect today but I just can’t get a picture of her. It’s gray outside and she simply won’t be still. You’ll just have to take my word for what a cutie she is. 🙂

Four garments actually sewn but now are needing elastic, handsewing, buttons and button holes. I was hoping to have them all done but as my new role suggests, I’ve had a few farm disruptions this week so haven’t found the time to complete them.

I’m sewing for an hour with miss 9’s class today – only an hour because the school production has their opening performance for the school children today and I’ve been invited to go along. Don’t mind, it should be fun and we can finish them off next week – the plum puddings that is.

Next project will be shortened sleepover pj’s for both kids.

On to ‘wermaid’#4,this one is in silver tones. I have developed calluses from sewing sequins.

I did several hours of mending yesterday as I had a bad head and did not want to wreck anything by sewing while not on the ball.

Today I have cut out 3 more Tea Party dresses for xmas gifts,if I don’t finish them in time they will do for the baby. I still have lots of gift sewing for my children to do. A new outfit each and some dolly clothes and bedding for the little girls.

I still have not sewed the girls polo tops…..I am washing out their dresses everyday instead!

Wowee Nicole, that is a lot! I’m anxious to see the silver toned mermaid!

I definitely understand the long list and unequally long time…

Niblet pulled out some Moda Hideaway fabric from my stash last night and asked for a dress with “Rudolph and Clarice”. It’s not actually Rudolph fabric, but I reckon to a 2 yr old a deer’s a deer, right? Nevertheless, trying to decide now between the Play Date or the Apple Picking dresses.

And I’ve begun planning spring/summer sewing. How nuts is that?! I guess this wacky southeastern weather has my brain confused.

I am just finishing up a playdate dress for my cousin’s little Lucy for Thanksgiving. Nicole, I loved your tutorial about constructing this dress and had it up the whole time I was working. Also, I liked the lined dress you made with the tab on the yoke and I stole your idea and made a tab too, but instead of a button I stitched a flower. All I have to do tomorrow is take out the basting stitches in the front, tack down the tab and sew on the button! Now for bed and I will take a look at the flickr pool in the morning to see what new inspiration awaits. 🙂

Thank you Em,that is my pleasure!

I get such a buzz to learn that any one reads them!

I finished Honoria, the 4th Wermaid and cut out #5. I am slightly over beading so I am making some Sleep Over PJ’S for the biggies for camp.

I have sewed up the 12 in knit and they fit my 14 year old Son&Heir and the 10 is very roomy on my Twins.

Thank you Liesl for having individual front facings rather then a multi size piece!

Tried on the hybrid dress (well miss 9 tried it on). The bodice is a little too long but otherwise all good. I think next time I will make the skirt wider so there is more flounce but other than that I wouldn’t change a thing. I haven’t finished it totally as I have some pressing issue with the hem – the iron died on me!

Master N is home in a mood today and with no iron I possibly won’t be sewing today. If and when I get a chance to hide, I will be doing some cutting out, buttonholes and other things that don’t require ironing. Too hot today anyway. The wind is terrible and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a harvest ban because of it.

I am SOOOOO looking forward to no more harvest – long slow tedious and making EVERYONE grumpy!!!

Next projects include the sleepover pjs I had started to cut out and a good crack at making doll sized o+s patterns for Christmas.

Nicole, I love watching the wermaids come to life. They really do have such character – yes I read your posts too!

P.S Happy Thanksgiving to all the American ladies (and their families). May you have a blessed holiday.

    Thank you Tamara,that is kind!

Nearly finished the Twins Sleepover pj’s. They chose the fabric combo themselves and it has turned out much better than I expected!

I need to have them done for Monday!

Still cutting out Tea Party dresses to have on hand for new babies.

Still have not sewn the polo tops…..
