Wise move, Heidi — I make that mistake too often and when I see how much unicking I have to do in the morning I groan.

I picked up a Simplicity pattern recently, 2526 (toddler coat, jacket, hat and pants), mostly for the pants, but I overbought fleece so I decided to try the coat.

OMG, am I missing Liesl’s detailed instructions! There seem to be huge gaps in the instructions and the illustrations are almost useless. I’m not too worried about how it’ll go together since fleece is pretty forgiving, and I plan to use a few techniques I’ve learned for cuffs on the sleeve cuffs.

Other than that, I’ve got a set of shortie pjs cut out and ready to sew using the Sunny Day shorts and the School Bus tee. I colour blocked the tee, using some cute anchor knit along with a solid blue for the sleeves and boat fabric for the shorts. If they’re done in time, they’ll go under the tree as a gift for my 2 year old.

I worked on the school days jacket yesterday. I decided I should have done it earlier but time has been taken away with appoitnments. I want keep plodding away at it today.

Elsa’s corronation Cape is done! It looks great.
I’m onto Hermione’s Ball Dress. I’ve redrawn the bodice from the Garden PartTy. I removed the front gathers, straightened the side seams and added 4″ so it hits where she wants it. I’ve cut the back to add a shirred panel to facilitate dressing and fit.
Now to change the sleeves into short bell sleeves and lengthen the skirt to full length and add the markings for the ruffles. Then the cutting before I can sew πŸ™‚

I’ve gotten so that I really dread patterns not from the small group of ones with instructions I know I can trust. I’d rather alter (even significantly) a reliable pattern.

The clock is ticking on Christmas sewing over here too — sounds like many folks are in the same boat. I’ve got a set of handkerchiefs 100% finished. 2 Lullaby pants, a Lullaby shirt, and a Lunchbox tee in 12-18m, plus a size 5 Sunday Brunch jacket and skirt all about 80% done: everything needs hems, buttons, etc. I’ve got a Music Class blouse cut out, and a pair of pyjamas half traced. I also need to make an apron.

I just need a coffee IV and I can DO THIS.

At least the majority of that list is Oliver and S!
I need to redo my shirred panel. I forgot to account for it shrinking in height as well as width πŸ™ This time I’ll shirr the panel first, then cut it to length! Or maybe I’ll make it work.

Still going on the school days jacket … Despite finding two baby jackets already! This is special though – its handmade!

Tamara, it will be handmade, hand smocked and one of a kind! I’m looking forward to seeing that jacket πŸ™‚

I managed to work around my shortened shirring and it’s just fine πŸ™‚ I’ve got one seam left to go on the bodice, and it’s looking fantastic!
I finally worked out how to get the look of the skirt I wanted and have it reasonably twirly. I’ve nearly finished the practice skirt. But off to sleep as I’ve already unpicked 2 serged seam and have another to go πŸ™

I finished the dress! It looks amazing! I have also finished my basic Christmas sewing. Everyone I wanted to make something for has something πŸ™‚ Although if I have time I’ll probably make 2 more tshirts and a pair of leggings but if I don’t get to it that’s fine πŸ™‚

One Christmas Ice Cream finished, not the smoothest of projects but it is done and the wee miss is pleased.

I’m up to the lining handstitching on the jacket. Then locating buttons and its done!

I think I might miss out on the puppet show outfit for now. Instead I will work to get something done down the track. Time is of the essence and baby has too many clothes for now. That’s what happens when you keep baby clothes.

I have a few very very special things to finish off and then it will be time for devotion to just baby. I am hoping she will settle easily enough so that I can sew here and there within a few weeks. If this goes well, I can get started on the next sizes and do some big kid sewing. But like my catch phrase seems to be just lately, I will be playing things strictly by ear for at least a month.

Well, last night, 12/24, my cousin saw pictures of my in the clutch bags and wanted one. We trooped to the basement, she picked out fabric she wanted. This morning, I whipped out a bag as quickly as I could for a 3 pm dinner. Turned out well. Better than I expected. Since I didn’t comple all my sewing, some people will receive gifts in March!

I am exhausted. In other news, I will be moving up from the basement to a room upstairs. A real 8×10 sewing room.

Oh that sounds exciting cybele! Its nice to be able to have a proper sewing space.

And to whip up a bag on Christmas day! I did something like two stitches!

I am working (slowly) on the lining of the school days jacket. Nearly finished.
