What are you sewing now?

I finished a chambray skirt for myself today and traced off the lullaby layette jacket in all sizes! I’m making my first one in some Lisette fabric 🙂
10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitSewing for a funeral. Just a top of some sort for me to go with the knit skirt I have already and I am hoping I get time to do something for the kids.
I hate funeral preparation the week is always so busy and I have had it with busy weeks full of interruptions.
I am very much looking forward to getting this sewing project over with so that we can finally concentrate on the joyful celebration of a pending birth!! And make baby clothes.
And I wish there were nicer clothes for kids rtw for such occasions to save time!
10 years ago LINKcybele727 @cybele727Oh a funeral I am sorry.
We may be attending the furry baby’s own funeral soon. (Not really but, you all will understand and weep with me….)
So the jumprope dress I just completed. The one she’s only worn once. Yeah, this one…
10 years ago LINKSarvi @SarviDo you see a ‘trash’ button, cybele? I dumped the one blank post for you. I think you just need to resize your image and re-upload, or else you can host it on flickr and link to that image.
I think like so? Sorry, didn’t have a sewing related pic in the first page of my flickr results and didn’t want to do the endless scroll thing. Max file size is 1024KB.

10 years ago LINKdubhels2003 @dubhels2003@sarvi Is that the lego female scientist kit?!
@justsewit Sorry to hear that you are funeral sewing. It is a nice tribute to someone that you are making something to wear.
@nicole I can’t wait to see a teeny tiny bubble dress, it is the sweetest pattern.I have finally started to try and sew again after the baby. I have mostly traced the layette pattern out in 3 – 6 months, and I have cut the jacket out aside from the binding.
10 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5Tamara, I am sorry for your loss.
Helen, good luck with your sewing. You will love the Lullaby. We had a day out yesterday and Trixie is very unsettled so I am hand sewing with a baby on my boob.
10 years ago LINKcybele727 @cybele727Sarvi. That’s the problem. I copy the Flickr link and try to past but it won’t work. It will paste into a browser or word doc. I even hand typed the link when I clicked the link link.
In any event the dog at the dress. Ate. It.
10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitThanks ladies! I haven’t started the sewing yet. I pulled out the blue “love” fairytale dress last night to see if it would still fit but I was met with grumpy preteen sounds. Just trying to save time when it all seems to be rushing and there never seems to be enough time inbetween the millions of things that have to be done (even though everything is organised).
If that completely doesn’t make sense please forgive me. Sleep has not been much and I am exhausted already.
I have gotten as far as pulling fabric out to use. I wanted to sew yesterday but threw myself into cleaning instead. I am trying to stay balanced.
I have no plan. I just have to wing it and if that means going to a shop to get something even remotely decent then so be it.
I would much rather sew something though but it seems that there is a push for Thursday morning which gives me two days to sew a dress, a shirt, shorts and a top for myself! I won’t get it all done!
Roll on the end of the week where I can actually sew something happy.
10 years ago LINKcybele727 @cybele727Besides the dog eating my jump rope as demoralizing, I am at a stop. Machine in shop. The dealer was like, this machine and you are not a good combo. She offered to give me the full value against a trade in for an elna 5300/540 for the difference.
The buttonholer is touchy, and intermittently works. The feed dogs were bent and tipped so if I started an edge stitch at the edge (duh) it wouldn’t feed. I got knots. Tons of knots, but no fabric moving.
Sigh. It is a good deal and will take it. More machine for a small investment. Hopefully it is the end of my woes.
10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitI have had “personality clashes” with machines before! I feel your pain!
It sounds like your machine is suffering some sort of complex or disorder cybele. The sooner you get a “diagnosis” the better and then it can go to therapy and you can get sewing on something considered “sane” again. Yes! Take the deal and run, it seems like a good one.
Ok, both kids at home, merit certificate received. Air con about to go on. This woman is sewing TODAY!!
10 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiHope you get some sewing done Tamara, if only for the sanity!
I finished up the layette jacket yesterday and this afternoon made some matching denim ‘jeans’. I upcycled a pair of jeans from my husband into the layette pants and used the left over Lisette fabric for the pockets. The matching set is gorgeous 🙂10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitI am half way through a little lisette 1893 in size 16 (whaaat?). Fabric is a black embroidered voile chosen by miss Imogen herself. I hope to complete it tomorrow afternoon / evening. That will leave a solid day of sewing Wednesday to try and get something else made.
I might have to try and locate something for Noah rtw.
10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitFinished Imogen’s dress but I don’t know why the muslin bodice fit well yet the real one was slightly too big. Nevermind she may only wear it once.
I managed to find some grey trousers for Noah but as we mostly have problems with rtw I have to rearrange a button so the poor boy doesn’t feel strangled when he sits down. I also found a white shirt which was a relief because I am fast running out of time.
See, I said it would all be in a rush didn’t I.
Hopefully my balloon ankles will reduce enough for me to sew something new for myself – Imogen says I am living in one dress! So the plan is to use some black and white aztec type printed knit to whip a new outfit.
10 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiHope it goes as well as possible tomorrow, Tamara!
9 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitThankyou sweet Heidi!
I didn’t get to sew last night but did find some good maternity wear I had forgotten about so everyone is now sorted.
I cannot wait for tomorrow. When I can get back to the sewing machine and make happy things. I have the school days coat to complete plus a multitude of other things. The feet are a signal that I have to knuckle down. But they always blow up at the end of my pregnancies. I just don’t want to land in hospital beforehand like last time.
