Sounds like you were so busy.

Take it easy Sharon. I am sort of eye boggling at the forty minute sew up there. It doesn’t include cutting does it?

Headaches seem to be in spades here – woke early with one, took Advil and water and still have it, a low dull throb.

Where did you get the purple wool from Nicole?

I might be let from shopping and stay home – this head! And I have too much to do.

Got the liberty lawn laid out with the hide and seek pattern on it so if I get to stay home I will be sewing both dresses and very possibly something for N.

Not selfish really cybele727. We need clothes just as much as the children do. But I think its a great term to use for a sewing for myself sewing week.

Maybe I had better join the self sewing week and get my jacket fitted, especially while I’ve got another pair of hands πŸ™‚

Yes I do have his pants cut out and still no sewing yet…but they will be done tomorrow! I am sure of it. : )

I am so in for selfish sewing week too! I have all those pretty patterns calling me so I have to join in. ; ) It will be my first real “sewing” week since surgery.

    Good for you Sharon.

I hope you get some help fitting Heidi, I have trained Jed up and two pairs of hands are marvellous.

    Hurrah for selfish sewing.

I laid out the wool for Liddy’s coat but I decided to let it rest for the night. Being textured it has a wee bit of stretch so I wanted it to relax before I cut it.

Tamara, you asked where I got it? Its a chetWynd fabric leftover from the fashion label. The small craft shop in the town where our nearest hospital is (Flu jabs people)! has some leftover stock.

I actually had some butter cashmere earmarked for her, but this was purple (her colour this season) and at $30 for 3 m I let it come home with me.

So, with only 2 sewing days until Easter, I spent the afternoon banging stuff out. Ties for boys, tie for the boy next door so he can match his sister’s dress when they go to the White House egg roll. Kitty’s dress – skirt finished, gathered and attached to the bodice. So I sit pulling out the gathering threads while the kids eat dinner. Bodice lace insertion —- rips halfway out!!!

Tried very hard not to cry, and had to leave it to take my son out. I’m a little calmer now, but would still love any suggestions on how to patch this. The bodice has a little lace and some pintucks, but I trimmed the seam allowances of the one lace insertion way too close and it was very fragile. A little hole had already opened, but I thought I could handle that. Now it’s half the bodice and it’s almost completely assembled! Tiny adorable puffy sleeves with bias cuff. Pretty ecru laces with little tucks. And baby girl loved it when she saw! Sniff. See, ladies, these things happen to all of us. πŸ™

I’m thinking I might add another layer of my fashion fabric (batiste) between the bodice and the lining and topstitch the lace to it, going over the original stitching. I feel like that will give it the stability it needs. Does that make sense?

I think that would be the way to go Melanie, my heart aches for you.

I cut Liddy’s Kestrel coat. Now I am putting together the O+S cape to make a casual cover up from the scraps.

I finished sewing the sleeves with mittens of the black and yellow onsie. Now I can just add them once I get the yellow body fabric. The sleeves with mittens were much easier the second time. It was lovely to get back to the machine as I hadn’t sewn for a few days as we’ve been really busy.

I bet that cape looks great and gets heaps of wear, Nicole!

Melanie, I was also going to suggest lining the bodice, I hope it works out.

We had a look at my jacket today and discovered that one side was fitted quite well but the other side wasn’t sitting well. I’ve tries fixing it 2 times and have put it away for another day. But it’s feeling more positive πŸ™‚

6:30pm the night before Easter and her dress is finished! Tear has been repaired and I think would only be noticed by an expert eye looking really closely. Thanks for the moral support! It’s nice to know there are some people out there who understand. πŸ™‚

Boys clothes are ironed and I just need to stitch up the second tie. I went and made them the Liberty car neckties from the Purl Bee. With a few changes to the suggested materials, they look super cute. No Oliver and S in the line up this year, I’m afraid. With our super tight budget and Kitty in between sizes, it didn’t make sense to buy the new patterns. I do love that Garden Party dress, though, and enjoy seeing everyone else’s versions. I will definitely buy it when she’s in size 5.

I am so pleased Melanie, I was thinking of you.

Bad luck Heidi, have a little break.

Today I went through all the Fab Fives school kit. I changed the buttons on Tildy’s school polo tops (that I made originally for Hugo) to MOP heart buttons, and took in the elastic on some school skirts to fit her.

Wow, that top has worn well, Nicole!

I’ve made a start on the wedding cape and I have printed out, taped together and traced out my Colette Mabel skirt but I want to get the cape finished before I make the skirt.

Thanks! I think it does look OK in the end. The hard sun and strong winds today made it difficult to get good pics, but here’s one close up: https://www.flickr.com/photos/24264063@N05/13951126194/ and there’s a full length shot there too.

Starting on my third iteration of the Lullaby Layette – it’s safe to say I’m in love with this pattern! This set will be a gift for my sister in law who’s expecting a boy – so fun to pick out more boyish fabrics since my sister and I both have only girls πŸ˜‰

And just a teeny tiny rant – the new Flickr mobile app is awful (got involuntarily upgraded a couple days ago). Can’t add photos to groups or view any of my starred ‘favorites’ on my phone anymore. Grr! The whole reason I joined Flickr was to look at and gain inspiration from the O+S Group!

I hear you about the Flickr app. I cant navigate it at all, it is awful.

I measured my eldest today, first time since January, and she has grown! I thought she was a 6 but it seems she has crept into a size 7 without me noticing. So I have traced off the Fairytale dress for her birthday dress and the Family Reunion top. I haven’t visited that pattern for a while and it is one of my favourites.
