She loves it! In the end that’s what matters. I think these frustrations disappointed me so because it was turning out exactly how I pictured it! So many times our internal vision doesn’t match reality. When it does or exceeds our vision, we get really excited. I was feeling really proud.

Nicole, I can’t wait to see your Cappuccino. I am not moving on to that yet.

The fitting session in NYC filled up before I could ask my hubby. I have family and friends in Park Slope, so I had a crash pad! The train ride would have been long but lovely. Bummer.

I have to find something less frustrating, maybe no buttons! Ha.

The links worked for me and the dress is beautiful! I think it’s that pattern – I haven’t had good luck with that one either and it’s THE pattern that brought me to O+S. Someday I will attempt to tackle it again.

I think the most difficult thing about sewing the Hide and seek would be locating the bust points on a child’s pattern! I did the full on measuring thing with the girl yesterday and am putting the finishing touches to the alterations. Then I will locate some rather horrible looking fabric (because the calico grew legs) and make a tunic muslin just for fit sake and then I will pleat the centre front panel and get busy smocking this design – which Immy declares is not too little girlish (hope not).

Trouble is I have a poor ailing child again so am called away quite frequently to make honey and lemon drinks and refill the vaporiser. Thank goodness its holidays!

Cybele what a pity you missed out. It would have been one of those “moments to remember” moments.

Lori, I know exactly how you feel re the kids growing out of Oliver and s. Keep the boy in them for as long as possible I say. My son is gaining speed and heading into a 12 this season and he is only eight turning nine!

Nicole, can’t wait for the Cappuccino!

I can’t wait to see your Cappuccino Nicole!

I did finish up Caspian’s blazer a few days ago but I am to lazy to take any pictures yet….the same reason Jacob’s pants are still not sewn as well. I must get them done soon for sewing inspiration has taken over! I though of a beautiful belted Fairy tale dress to make Sarah to “match” my next Chantilly dress. I am thinking if I cut them out at the same time I can make my fabric go far enough for both. I bought 5 yards of fabric in stead of the 4 1/2 yards. It looks lovely in my head so Hopefully it will work out nicely for me. I would love the have my dress done by this weekend but I can’t seem to get up and sew anything.

PreemieMomma… YES! It is THE dress that brought me to O+S. And I always have buttonhole problems due to the bulk in the neck facing. Darn you, sensitive computerized machines.

Normally the rest of the holes are fine, unless you, like me, did color blocking and created more seams and bulk.

Justsewit, Oh I am bummed about missing out. I would have loved fit tips for the apple shape with bosom! 🙂

Mama_Knowles, Take pics of that baby blazer! 🙂

I can’t wait to see some Cappuccino’s in the pool, there haven’t been many yet.

Sharon, looking forward to seeing C in a blazer! I can just imagine how cute he looks.

I have made a Celestial Tee and finished up the hems on the overlocker following a youtube tute. I am not won over by the look of the hems but Boo declared it the new favourite thing and has worn it all day. We have been gardening so it is not photoworthy!

I am going to make some more tees and playtime leggings and just leave the hemming till my beloved machine is up and running again.

cybele727, that dress is beautiful. So pretty.

@AnneC103 Here’s the link to the Fairy Tale I already finished for my 2-year-old niece (along with a coordinating Lullaby Layette outfit I made for her baby sister):

And here’s a picture of the Fairy Tale I’m working on right now for my 21-month-old daughter:

I’m finishing the waist trim now (more of the blue fabric I used for the collar and sleeve linings, but I’m sewing it on a bit differently (I ironed it flat so it looks more like ribbon than puffy/round piping trim) than I did for my niece’s dress, and it’s looking a bit nicer bc it’s laying more flat/evenly. I’ve also hemmed the dress (voile is frustrating to hem bc it’s about impossible to make the stitches invisible on such delicate fabric!), and just have to finish up the hand-stitching on the lining at the back zipper and add a hook & eye. And I’ll probably tack the collar down in the back near the zipper just to help it lay down instead of flapping up :P. I’m also going to make a pair of Seashore bloomers in leftover blue fabric for her to wear underneath – active little toddlers need something covering their diapers! Those should be a quick sew however. I can see that pattern coming hugely in handy with all the different O+S dress patterns I plan to use over the next couple years – how great that the bloomers are offered as a Singles pattern! I don’t see the Seashore dress being one that I’d want, I think the Hide & Seek will be my next pattern (but shhh don’t tell my husband, he has NO IDEA how many of these patterns I already have!! :P)

I’m definitely thinking of doing this dress again, though next time I kinda want to try it sleeveless with a sash, just for something different – perhaps something like what you made!

After I finish the Easter outfits, it’s back to sewing for the nursery…blackout curtains are next as they’re more of a necessity than the crib bumpers and skirt which are mostly cosmetic ;-). And my time is running out…less than 6 weeks til my due date :P. Still waiting to get the crib quilt back from the quilt shop where it’s being machine quilted – it’s an Australian animals paper-pieced quilt that was so satisfying and yet time-consuming to sew!

Well i spent the day yesterday sorting out the fitting of this hide and seek dress but did the tunic for the muslin to get the “problem spots” sorted. We are good to go and she seems to like it, saying it is roomy and she can move easily (which means she likes it). So today is the day where I cut into the silk (eek) but the front insert is to be smocked at her insistence – easy peasy, means a day of sitting on my backside and stitching!

I finished the Cappuccino tunic, the wool/modal was not an easy sew but the drape was worth every pinprick.

I am blogging a tute (not that it needs one but I took piccies) but I have put some photos up on Flickr.

    Next a Sunki for Liddy.

Tamara, I am looking forward to seeing this smocked Hide and Seek.

The smocked hide and seek alas will not be ready for Easter. A slight issue called not enough thread of the colour which is required! It will be made just not for easter and hopefully I can do some stitching on it next week.

I did convince her to choose some other fabric for her Easter hide and seek though and so she has chosen pink linen (yes the one I bought to selfish sew with) and some spotty Michael Miller as a contrast. She also chose some liberty lawn and I will make one from that also. Let’s face it the kid needs clothes!

I hope to get one of them made tonight so she can wear it shopping tomorrow and then that will leave a couple of days up the sleeve. But so very much to do. Poor N might have to have post Easter clothing.

Oh forgot to mention and sort of not on topic but…. Had to order new battery charger for the camera and should have it next week – lots and lots of piccies to follow.

Ok I am too literal this am. Cappuccinos in the pool, and I am thinking, whose gonna wear that in the pool? Hahhaha..

Voth girl, you still have prime nesting time left!!

Justsewit, is there such thing as a selfish sew? Since I almost never sew for me, if I do it is completely unselfish.

Still thinking about what to start next. But I won’t start until after Easter as I have to clean and cook for that.

    Mama_Knowles @Mama_Knowles

Tamara I would have done the same thing, giving my fabric to my daughter….I am right now trying to squeeze a dress out of the same fabric I bought for my for dress. I was going to try and make an infinity scarf out of it but I know she’ll love the dress.

I did get a picture of Capitan’s blazer up on m Flicker but still no sewing, I am sick but this time with a bug and head cold. (thank goodness!) I rather lay in bed and watch TV and do word searches with the kids than get up and do anything at the moment though. I know it will take about 40 minutes tops to sew the Sketchbook pants for Jacob so I can get them done still but just on another day. Now as for my dress….I think the peach Chantilly will work great for a family photo. ; )

    You rest up Sharon!

I lay down on my bed yesterday with a slight headache and woke up 2 hours later! I think the flu jab may have knocked me around a bit this year.

Its doubly important you rest having had an anaesthetic so recently.

I made a good start on Liddy’s Sunki, I only had a metre of fabric so I narrowed the sleeves, luckily she is tres’ skinny and I could get away with it.

It was not *actually* her turn but I am being quite firm with myself. If I buy new fabric it must be sewn not stored.

So I guess I will be making her a purple wool coat next (hangs head and avoids dirty looks from the Twins)

But I did just receive this shirt pattern for Hugo http://www.pinterest.com/pin/73676143877300001/ , and it is his turn…..

So, lucky me, I have a new job. It’s a field position, but when I’m not in the field my job location is my house. So…..I spent today, on 3 webinars….while listening with one ear, I was able to cut out a Garden Party dress in Robert Kaufman London Calling lawn, purchased the full Monty of the new t-shirts, printed and taped the size 4 pattern, washed up some Moda interlock (Modern Workshop), printed out another kid’s dress pattern (non O+S), and an underwear pattern. Oh, yes, I’m loving my new job!!!
