I need to make another knit dress for Isabel. Sofia’s Easter dress has been done for a while but I ran into issues with Isabel’s.

I think I may be done with making clothes forever, based on this last dress. Because of the button hole saga, I had to do snaps. The snaps were nickel plated brass. I considered doing horizontal buttonholes but the 2d hole would not have happened because the foot would have hit the bulk of the pin tuck and jammed up like the horizontal ones were doing at the color block section, due to the seams.

I hand sewed the button and all the snaps. Hand stitched down the placket to make sure it didn’t unfold.

Washed the dress. The Clover yellow chalk wheel chalk stained the dress. It isn’t supposed to stain. So I looked up on line what will get it out. Soak in vinegar it says. I soaked in vinegar. It stripped the nickle off the snaps and now the brass snaps are leeching rust onto the dress.

cybele727, oh I really feel for you! What a shame. Don’t be discouraged, just write the episode off and start again on something new. And don’t buy those snaps ever again.

I am getting started on some knit tops and dresses. I taped together the Figgy’s Celestial Tee last night and also have ideas about a knit dress from one of my Ottobre’s. I may need to stock up on jersey, my selection is looking poor.

Well, I finally have a green light to make the hide and seek dress. She chose some purple silk and we found a design she wants me to do on it – because it shares her name. So I am currently altering the pattern to fit her – she is now bigger in the bust than the patterns finished measurements! I commented that she is almost a size zero and she wanted to know was it bigger or smaller than she is now. She has a bit of growing to do still.

I might make a pair of navy linen shorts for N and a white sketchbook shirt if the current one is too small.

Its a rush but worth it!

justsewit, I can’t wait to see the finished hide and seek dress, with purple silk? that will be lovely!

I just finished sewing for my first Kids Clothes Week. I made several o+s outfits and I am currently finishing the art museum trousers for my little man, I was surprised how easy welt pockets were. They made me feel silly for avoiding them for so long. I need to get my act together if I am going to finish two easter dresses by Saturday!

I’m joining the Oliver & S party very late in the game given the ages of my oldest kids, 11 and 9 yr. old girls. They have nearly outgrown the Oliver & S patterns. (There is still hope for me with my 4 year old boy but sewing clothes for boys isn’t quite the same as dresses for girls.)

I’ve always wanted to sew Easter dresses for my 2 girls and finally have some time to be able to give it a try. The design of the croquet dress pattern won me over so I’m giving it a go. The clock is definitely working against me at this point. Less than a week to go before Easter and neither dress is finished. Both are started but I have a long ways to go…can’t yet see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you for all your support during my crying and moaning. From afar, it looks pretty good. Good thing no one is going to examine the “buttons.” (Which by the way, the paint on the back of one of the buttons came off and is clear, while the rest are a light pink cast. I cannot win with this one.)

I think I am going to learn how to do tailor tacks so I can mark without worries of staining and permanency.

The dress is lovley! Perfect combo of playable and elegant.

It has been a frustrating dress for you, but it’s beautiful 🙂

Oh no, the dress of much angst and with your sewing time being so precious. I am so sorry Jenny.

I have not sewed for 4 days but hope to get back to my Cappuccino this afternoon.

Now I am off to check out these links and see pretty dresses, I love links, my internet is so poor Flickr takes an age to load.

Aw, Jenny your girl looks so happy in her new dress, worth it!

Nicole, really looking forward to seeing your Cappuccino.

Lori, you can do it! I hit the same issue and will have to use a ‘practice’ dress (made in cheap fabric to check fit and learn construction) for an Easter dress. Unfortunately we will be traveling before Easter so my sewing time is up early.

Going to try to knock out a quick pair of after school pants cut from jeans intended for goodwill before I get into my nice denim.
