Oh Meleliza! I cannot wait to see what you make with new pattern!

bren5kids I know what you mean. I just finally bought a Cottage Mama pattern, as requested by my four year daughter, and it sure wasn’t an O+S pattern! while the dress was easy to sew it looks more homemade than any O+S pattern I have ever sewn. I was disappointed in how the bodice attached to the skirt of dress. Next time I will rework that part with some of the Fairy tale dress pattern. That being said I spent $20 on the pattern and shipping it! (oh why oh why!)

I’m hearing you guys about other patterns! I sew almost exclusively Oliver and S or self drafted unless I really can’t find or modify an Oliver and S pattern. I will often modify Oliver and S rather than using a different pattern company! That’s reminded me I need to sew a large child’s or small adult onsie as requested for a birthday. I must choose the next Oliver and S pattern to sew afterwards to cleanse my palette, as the onsie will probably be a KwikSew pattern!

I’m currently cutting out a nature walk pullover in black, white and teal to use up some smaller pieces in my fleece box. I’m planning to put a zip in the top rather than have the slit open.

Sharon sometimes people like to think that producing a pattern is pretty simple but as Liesl has explained, it is a rather complicated and drawn out method of producing great quality. I think it is something that others “think” they have – the quality bit that is. But still it really doesn’t hurt to give them a go like you have because then they could receive some very valuable feedback in order for them to improve and gain a bit of quality?!

What deer and doe patterns did you choose? I was considering purchasing some myself but because we are in transit there isn’t really any point until we are actually in and doing things – besides I might send myself broke with making household stuff like curtains!

I can’t wait to “play” with my Oliver and s patterns again.

How exciting for you and your family!

I bought the Belladone dress, the Aubepine dress and the Chataigne shorts. The shorts are first on the Deer and Doe list, maybe in chambray I am thinking? First I have to make a wee little quilt this weekend to clear up some space then onto sewing for me! I am really trying to keep my mind busy lately, I think it is starting to work.

$20 Sharon, ouch! I consoled myself with the thought that I didn’t spend much on this pattern, 4 or 5 dollars if I remember right.

“Cleanse the palette with an O&S pattern” Heidi, I like that! I’m afraid tho’ that since I have two daughters I will have to sew another Shwin jacket right away. I did buy some sweatshirt fleece today to make a Nature Walk pullover for my 18 mo. son, and like you, I am planning to put a zip in the front. I’ve never made that pattern before so can’t wait to get started!

A few days ago I finished up that Lisette traveller tunic in plaid flannel. I did the shirttail hem with the regular collar and I’ve been wearing it ever since. This was partly an experiment to see if I was the plaid flannel shirt wearing type. I typically make some play clothes for baby girl in flannel for winter since it’s so soft and cozy and I sorta wanted the same thing. It’s very very cozy and really only a step up from wearing my favorite old bathrobe, but I think it’s presentable outside. Not that anyone sees me in anything but a parka and boots.

I like the traveller pattern a lot though. I made a blouse version of it last year and it’s not difficult for me to get a good fit. I think there are lots of ways to vary the design too.

I’m finishing an ice cream dress for baby girl as well as a matching one for baby doll. At the same time, I’m cutting out the Pauline pattern from Citronille – the peasant style top with smocking. This will be a dress actually and part of a project I’m working on with my photographer.

Sewing up the nature walk pullover to keep me sane as I clean the house for a rent inspection!

I like the Traveller too Melanie, I do wonder if I needed to lift the waist just a smidgen.

I have not sewn for a week (eeep) we have had a nasty virus go through the school and each child has had it one after the other. High fevers and achy joints. We seem to have seen the back of of it now.

I have a sweet little white linen Puppet Show calling my name.

White linen puppet show sounds lovley, but the virus does not!

I cut out two Class Picnic blouses yesterday (using fabrics my girls selected from Mama’s “store” – LOL). I have already made five CP blouses, and it is such an easy sew, yet I ALWAYS muck something up while sewing it. In this case I am having trouble with the bias for the elastic insertion. I am using a double-faced gauze (in plaid, no less) and I probably should have cut the bias wider. I am afraid the whole shirt is going to fall apart the first time she wears it.

Meleliza – please do post photos of your Traveler. I love the pattern!

I do hope everyone is feeling much better very soon Nicole!

I can’t wait to see pictures of your Traveler tunic Meleliza!

RTWG I have bought this pattern but have yet to use it, I have to this spring. : )

I was able to cut out my “puzzle” pieces of a quilt yesterday. I hope to have it all sewn together today. It shouldn’t be a problem seeing we are covered in at least an inch of freezing rain and sleet outside. I know I am not going anywhere today.

Oh you would not believe what I found!! My traveller dress pattern – the one I lost and in haste went and bought another thinking it was not around at all (the deception of mind thinking I hadn’t had it in the first place)!! I am now thrilled to bits that I can work on this in coming weeks. Just in time for some (hopefully) cooler weather.

Not exactly sewing but my new Ottobre came today and I’m eyeing off the sweatshirt blazer! It will take a bit of fitting but my last one from Ottobre turned out well so the mucking around will be worthwhile.

    I sewed!!! (Dances around happily)

And I ran and cooked and baked and finished all my ironing!

I made a start on Tildy’s Puppet Show which turns out to be birds eye pique NOT linen. its still lovely!
