One library bag for a junior palaeontologist complete!
I have decided I am going to revert back to old “traditional” pattern alteration methods to do the muslins this weekend. I simply can’t be bothered wasting anymore time!

Hope those musilins come together for you.
I Finished my wrap skirt and spent a lovley evening with friends doing alterations to some of her clothes Since she lost weight. I have Iearnt so much from these friends and I am very grateful to God for the gift these friends and their understanding of sewing, garment construction and darts!

By jove! I think I’ve got it! I spent a little time working on the muslin for this dress I seemingly spent the whole of last weekend on going round in circles with and I think I have nailed it! Who blooming ray for that! Now I just need to work on the skirt part and I am thinking we will have a dress! Double hooray! Here’s to having a fine long weekend sewing. Happy Australia day to my fellow Aussies!
Ok gals! The aim here is to have three muslins ready to rock and roll and at least one dress made and fitting bee you tiffly! By the end of the weekend right? Yup got it!
Heidi it’s fab to have sewing sisters isn’t it – they are definitely true blessings!

Yes, my sewing sisters are a blessing 🙂
How exciting Tamara to get your muslin right!
I sewed a couple of seams in the faux chinelle blanket I’m working on. I had to significantly slow down because between manhandling the quilt and using the rotary type cutter made my back and shoulders sore! But it’s great when I need a few minutes relaxation to sew a few more rows and my friends baby isn’t due until April 🙂
11 years ago LINKTamara, I can’t wait to see the dress!!
Princess dress still not done, baby boy needs new pjs and older daughter needs a new fleece jacket … but I just downloaded and taped together the Plantain tshirt pattern … selfish sewing indeed!

Tamara, I’m so glad it worked out! It’s so frustrating when they don’t but so so exciting when it finally comes together! I just put one sleeve in the Library dress but had to stop for dinner. Making her a size 4 in the hopes that she can wear it next year too, but this being right on the cusp of the pattern range is frustrating.
She dearly wants a Brave costume and I’m inclined to indulge her. But I don’t want to work with any costume fabrics, I want to do it in something nice. I’m not concerned about historical accuracy or anything, but historically inclined would be nice. So what, Linen? Some kind of brocade?

What about knit? Either hopscotch or field trip raglan. Teal green with gold knit bands for hopscotch and gold elbow patches with a belt for the drop waist. Teal green knit with gold for bands or maybe the notched rollerskate facing as a collar. Lengthen to drop waist length and add either a half circle or gathered skirt. Also the gold elbow patches again. Not exactly a “princess dress” but very comfy and easy to sew! 🙂 Like this Elsa dress from Project Run And Play http://www.flickr.com/photos/abcchildrensdesigns/12106411943/in/photostream/

Or how about a top with a Hula Hoop skirt maybe with some extra length!
I have princess dresses on the brain at the moment. I think I will make an Elsa dress from the Hopscotch pattern too!

I did a huge boo boo! I cut the pattern when I was cutting what I had traced out, thinking K had put the pattern aside. Now I am off to go buy me another one so I still have a “good copy” and will patch up the mess I have made.

And I can’t type very well today “K” is supposed to be “i”

Oh I was thinking I’d keep it simple and just use the actual Brave costume pattern Simplicity makes with Disney. No extraneous pattern drafting. The costumes are fun and my kids wear them long after Halloween has gone.

That makes all the details much easier if someone has already worked them out! 🙂
