Housework to finish today. But I would so very much rather be sewing. I’m in between big projects right now, which always makes me antsy. I have a flannel nightgown to finish up for baby girl. She picked out the most garish princess print when were at Joann last time and I simply could not argue with her. She needs pjs, that’s for sure. And I have an easy sundress cut out of a floral seersucker to send to Haiti. They’re still collecting, but they need bigger sizes.

Over the weekend, I have a friend coming by with her communion dress and her daughter. The dress was made in the late 70s by mom’s grandmother, who was a seamstress by trade. She wants her daughter to wear it, but the daughter objects to a few things. Sooooo, I’m planning to shorten the sleeves, change out the collar and replace the lining. But I need to see it on her of course before I can do anything. I’m also hoping to rope the little girl into modeling one of my dresses for me.

Nicole, I would go the exposed zipper as per Elsa’s request for two reasons, 1. I don’t think it is contrary to any rules or guidelines you guys have for her clothes and therefore gives you extra points for allowing something you don’t particularly like but is not against the general guidelines and 2. As you say it can be changed fairly easily later for Liddy or Tilly, but she will wear it trendily now with the exposed zipper.

Also is it worth sewing something and putting in the invisible zipper and having it not worn because it is the “wrong” zipper?

Hope you and Elsa come to a workable solution! 🙂

Nicole I would go with the exposed zipper too, for Elsa. It seems to me sometimes the things I sew for Sarah that I don’t care for ends up being her favorite thing to wear. (and that is what really matters)

Well last night I successfully sized down the bubble dress for little miss Waldorf doll. (Boy it is so hard for me not to name her!) I did trace a proper pattern out so it will be easier to make her much more. It’s for a 14″ doll and I made a matching cloth nappy too. I giggle every time I see knowing Sarah is going to love her. : )

Next I must finish Sarah’s coat. We are going to be getting ice and sleet this next week so I have, have to finish it this weekend. Then back to mini dolly O+S clothes.

Sharon, could you give the doll a “prebirth” name. You know like we all seem to do before our children are born? We called Sophie “squid” and “peanut” before she was born.

I must. ; ) She is so cute with the smile and now her dress. She seems to be looking for one.

I know I am being super greedy but if anybody feels like sharing their hard work and sharing their doll patterns I am willing to swap for something good!

Sounds like a great offer Sarvi! I do have the bubble dress resized now, I can email you the pattern pieces if you would like it. It sews just the same as the big version other than button I used hook and loop. It could easily have real working buttons though. As I work out some more I would be happy to share them. (O+S and my own) Are just wanting clothes patterns or doll pattern itself too?

Nicole, I think the dress would look better with the invisible zipper. However, I feel this isn’t really the look Elsa is going for. Instead of waiting for the mail to finish the dress just do the exposed zipper as per Elsa’s wishes to get the edgy pretty dress she’s after not the dainty pretty dress it could look like. You could always do another one the same with the invisible zipper later on if it is requested.

No sewing for me this weekend.

Sharon the Waldorf dolls are the cutest!

Thanks for all you lovely suggestions and support Ladies.

    You are all awesome!

Just the clothing pattern, please! I’m hoping to make her a Waldorf doll next year but my skills are not quite at that level yet 🙂

I am so glad you made a pattern Sharon. I made a dress for Liddy’s Kate Finn doll and I was in a rush so I didn’t make a pattern and it fits perfectly! So cross at myself!

Can’t wait to see Nicole. It does help to ask even if you know the answer doesn’t it? Can you make another perfectly fitting Kate Finn doll dress so you can get the pattern maybe?

Imogen wore her Hello roses Fairy tale dress I made her last year to town today. I couldn’t stop staring and admiring it! So glad it still fits.

I am having coffee number (I have lost count) 2 after coming home from town and will very shortly be entering the nook to reconfigure a few things. I am hoping to have it mostly sorted tonight so I can sew tomorrow. But we will see how we go.

I am making a pair of “pink and red shorts” requested by my 4 year old niece 🙂 Since I still had out the puppet show pattern I used that and the shorts are so cute when made.

I thought the same thing, if I didn’t make a pattern I wouldn’t be able to come close to a great fit again. I’ll have to put pictures up today of her dress when the kids are not around.

I bought some baby white alpaca yarn for the dolls hair so I hope to have her wig made this weekend. I am thinking of putting it into piggy tales. I do have to get to Sarah’s coat first, I finally decided on a lining fabric that I love. I picked one that would make the coat a breeze to hand down to Caspian later. I seen the fabric online but didn’t want to have order it then the fabric store I was at yesterday had it in stock, oh how could I say no then. ; ) Here it is http://storefront.unitednotions.com/storefrontCommerce/itemDetail.do?item-id=171992&order-quantity=1&customer-item=1867.31314&order-uom=&warehouse-id=6&item-number=1867.31314

I swapped to another page and my whole message disappeared!

I was saying about the coat lining Sharon, its really great! Doesn’t matter in the least if it isn’t girl especially if you happen to pass it down. In fact it would be better for you to have that happen as there are very few moments when one could say they can hand something from an older daughter to a younger son – especially these days. There are so many other things that can make up for it being more unisex than totally girly. And plenty more opportunities for girly jackets later on.

The pigtails on the wig sound so cute! I was googling to see how many sites would pop up on Waldorf dolls and I am really very surprised there are so many. They seem like very easy and straight forward to make.

I had plans to get up early, sacrificing my once a week sleep in and get into the nook BEFORE the kids woke up! I was last out of bed and it isn’t even 7am! I still have cleaning and sorting to do so after breakfast I will get in there and go to it and try and get it all done by lunchtime. Then I can stitch for a couple hours (fingers crossed).
