My favourite cousin had her baby 2 weeks early this morning.

She is a Pharmacist and was still working so she can take maximum leave.

He was born after a four hour labour weighing 7 1/2 pounds. His name is Eoin Thomas.

I hope she likes the new patterns.

I know, four hours?

I had my Twins in six and thought that was amazing. All my others eighteen plus.

I am not sure if it is pronounced ‘Owen’ or ‘Ian’ but both are lovely.

Oh, I was pronouncing it AY-o-in, like Eowyn in Lord of the Rings. My labors were 22 hours, 13 hours and 4:40. Funny enough, the 13-hour one was the easiest. Had I known the 4:40 one was only going to be that long, it would have been easier – but I had an induced labor 18 hours after my water broke and contractions didn’t start on their own.

Oh babies. Even their poop smells good! 😉 I was “lucky”, I guess. My first labor was 20 hours before the emergency C. (Apparently they frown upon full active labor and delivery without a dilated cervix.)

They didn’t mess around the second time… straight out C-section.

Can I just say? I love the Liesl & Co selfies in Flickr. They are so honest and unpretentious, and love seeing the pride on everyone’s faces over their work. You ladies rock!

Whatever the pronunciation, I just love how its spelt. Four hours is fast (I had a 7 and a none both ended in c sections). One of the boys in my son’s class was the result of a one hour labour and was almost born in the entryway of the hospital! They say it gets faster but each one is different I think. Congratulations and a good size too (I wouldnt recommend heavier babes) make sure you get lots of cuddles.

Having had two 10 lbs babies I can definitely recommend not having big babies (ouch) … not that you can do much about it either way.
