Hi! I am Ledys, and though I am not new to the forums, this is the first time that I actually get to login and write a post. Nice to officially meet everyone! I love sewing for my children (two girls ages 6 and 4, 16 month old boy) and for myself, though I am very slow and it takes me a while to get through my projects. Sewing with these beautiful patterns has taught me that it is as much about the process as it is about the result, and I am learning to slow down, take my time, and enjoy creating new, beautiful things. I also love to read, cook, knit (though I am not very good at it!), sing, and learn as much as I can. Thank you all for all you teach and encourage through the forums. Looking forward to meeting everybody!

I post occasionally but have never introduced myself. My name is Jennifer and I love sewing for my 3 children. The boys are 13 and 10. They really won’t wear anything except nightclothes that I sew. Although my oldest is resistant to even that lately. He did say he would be ok with me sewing him a pillow case…My true sewing joy comes from making things for my 8 year old daughter. It’s so fun to get pretty fabrics together and make something special just for her. Although lately she’s gotten picky also…. So I am really happy about the Liesl and co. patterns. It’s nice to make something I like versus just making do with something from the store.

I started sewing about 3 years ago and discovered Oliver and S about a year ago. My sewing has so much improved since using these patterns.

Oh, and my user name comes from my love of all things cat.

Welcome Jennifer, I am so glad you introduced yourself.

Good on you for sewing for yourself, it may even pique your daughters interest.

My girls love cats, we have 2 siamese and a rag doll.

    Hello everyone!

Just a quick note to introduce myself- I’ve been lurking on these forums….

I’m a mother to 2- my son is 5 and daughter is 3. I really enjoy sewing for the two of them- and dusting off my skills in the process! Maybe at some point I’ll be ready to try sewing for myself. I’m very very frustrated trying to buy RTW for myself (and my kids).

We are an American family, but live in Western France. I don’t sew as much as I’d like because materials are 2x the price here- youch (thank you customs and shipping)! So while I try to support the local businesses, I do stock up on patterns/fabrics when I’m stateside.

But I love Oliver and S and have learned so much from the blog. I’m excited to get to know everyone here.

A very big welcome to you!

One of my sisters lives in Paris and she has purchased me some gorgeous fabric but I have no idea how expensive it was. I did suspect…..

How lovely that you have one of each to sew for. Sewing for Littles is a great way to gain confidence in sewing for yourself.

Even if you are not sewing, please join in the Current Affairs thread!

    Hello All!

My name is Lori and I live in Boise, Idaho. We’ve been back home in the States for 3 years now after my husband’s job took us to Melbourne, Australia for 2 years. I have such fond memories of our time in Australia and always get excited to meet Aussie folks. We ended up having our 3rd child while living in Melbourne and think of him as the best souvenir ever of our time overseas.

I’m joining the Oliver & S party very late as my 2 girls are 11 and 9 years old so very close to growing out of the Oliver & S patterns. I’ve wanted to sew them clothes since they were born but haven’t been able to make sewing a priority due to other demands. I’m finally able to sew a few garments for them but my window of time is shrinking. They are growing up too fast!!

Anyway, it’s nice to be here in this little forum. Looking forward to getting to know a few sewing folks. My fingers are crossed I’ll finish a couple croquet dresses in time for Easter but the clock is working against me right now!

    Happy Stitching!

Hi, Lori! I’ve been to Boise many, many times! We used to live in Lagrande, Oregon, and have friends and relatives in the Payette area. We would usually fly out of the Boise airport, and sometimes go shopping in Boise. My family and some of my in-laws live in Lagrande and we go through Boise everytime we travel to visit them. We are in Colorado now.

Anyway, welcome to the forums! I have two girls (6 and 8) that I love to sew for also.

I’m Katie, and I’m mainly a knitter who took up sewing when our oldest child was 4 or 5 months old. She is now 3.75 and we have a 10 month old, both girls. We live in Connecticut, USA and I work full time outside of the home, so my sewing/knitting time is limited. I just discovered Oliver + S a few weeks ago and LOVE the simplicity of the patterns and the very clear step-by-step instructions; they really help make good use of my time. I seem to focus mostly on knitting in the colder months and on sewing in the warmer months. My next project will be matching Pinwheel dresses for the girls; I have the fabric already but needed to finish some other projects first.

A big warm welcome to you Katie.

I am jealous of your knitting skills, I would love to learn. I hope you love the patterns as much as we do and please join in our chats.

Hi Nicole, Thanks for the welcome! I wish I was closer to Paris- there seems to be a lot more options there. While I do it frequently I rather dislike buying fabric online- I’m a touchy feely kind of person…..The last time I was in a decent store was on a surprise trip to Barcelona- I did a little stash building. Spain seems to have better prices than France. Can’t explain it.

I’ll check out the current affairs board. I hadn’t seen it before.

Hi πŸ™‚ I’m Patricia, a military wife currently living in northern California. I have a 21-month-old, never-stops-moving daughter and am a couple days shy of 37 weeks pregnant with our second daughter. I’ve been sewing most of my life, having been blessed with a mum and grandma who taught me how to sew, quilt, etc. I came across Oliver + S patterns, funnily enough, because the “Oliver” in Oliver + S is the son of my former youth pastor from back when I lived in Sydney, Australia as a teenager 13 years ago! My old youth pastor had mentioned something on Facebook about the patterns and having a brand new daughter I immediately went and checked out the website. I now own 15+ Oliver + S patterns and 3 Liesl + Co patterns, tho I’ve only sewn about 4 O+S and 1 Liesl + Co pattern so far. They’re so well written and while I’ve done a lot of sewing over the years, garment/apparel sewing is a fairly new adventure for me, and the O+S patterns are teaching me so many new skills. I’m so impressed with the professional finishes and details and have had so much fun the past few months sewing for my girls and passing the time while my husband is away. Like many on here, I have a bit of a problem with O+S patterns and fabric – I can’t stop buying more! πŸ˜‰ I love the Flickr group as well (tho the new app is driving me crazy!) and have gained so much inspiration from all the amazing creations on there! I predict that over the next few years my girls’ wardrobes will contain at least 50% homemade items, all thanks to O+S for kindling my love of sewing children’s clothing.
