@EllenMCM, do you have the Jumprope dress pattern? I was making my son a shirt last year and I pulled out the Jumprope instructions to help me do the sleeve plackets.
Still sewing my cousins dress. Next up, the Field Trip cargoes and tee for Tildy. Then I will be cutting more swimmers, school uniforms or a shirt for my husband.

Not a huge polar fleece fan, it is not cold enough here, but I do use cotton un-brushed fleece a lot.
I do interface as per usual but as this will make one side more rigid then the other, I will use a thin strip of interfacing to stabilise the seam area of the other piece of fabric. -

I’m working on an Ottobre blouse with a partial placket. I made some practice, plackets, but am feeling wimpy about the real thing.

Actually, you are a help. I quite appreciate being able to bounce ideas off someone who knows something about sewing and thinking out loud is mostly what I’m doing— until I cut!

I’m planning a Nature Walk for my little guy out of fleece. Do I still need to use interfacing on the facings/collar? I recollect reading that fleece shouldn’t be ironed…
Tips please!

I am sorry not be more help, I am really just thinking out loud.

Some width, yes. And specifically to make the opening of the neck larger.

This post is a little late but I thought I would add my thoughts about using German Interfacing. I love this interfacing especially on collars, cuffs & front facing of blouses, shirts etc. It provides just the right amount of stabilization for children’s clothing. Never too stiff.
I also always wash this interfacing as there can be a slight…[Read more]

My concern over keeping the look of the top is a contributing factor to my hesitation!
My daughter wore the size 6 until she was 9, but now she’s got broad shoulders! How did that happen so fast??!
Are you suggesting adding to the the back at the center seam AND from the shoulder- hem?
I will go use my visualizing powers on opening the front…[Read more]

I would wonder if you made it in stretch whether that would be enough?
My girls wore the size 8 until they were 12.
I don’t have a lot of success sizing up patterns, I find they lose the original look for me but I would wonder about splitting the centre front piece and adding to the middle?
Perhaps split the back at the shoulders to the hem and…[Read more] -

I’m about to make the bedtime story pajamas for my daughter who is 10. As the pattern is only sized to 8, and she is big for 10 years old, I want to increase the size of the neck opening. I haven’t made the pattern in several years, so I’m a little uncertain as to how is the best way to go about it. I would really appreciate hearing your…[Read more]
