@libloucks, there is definitely more than one way to make the quilted jacket, but here is what I did… First I made the quilted fabric with 3 layers: fabric, batting, fabric. Then I cut out the pattern pieces. I cannot remember if I used organic cotton batting or white fleece for that particular piece. Quilting the fabrics first did change a…[Read more]

The link is perfect @libloucks took me straight there. Might look different to you as you’re logged in and your post may appear differently.
I’ll put my five cents worth in before Rachel answers…
If you used one layer quilting cotton and one layer of bamboo or cotton wadding then I think it would sew up fine and not be too bulky.
Alternately,…[Read more] -

It’s super adorable. I just thot it would be bulky to quilt the lining AND the outer fabric. Or can you quilt it without using any batting in one of the layers?

@libloucks, can you give a link to the one you’re referring to? I’m trying to remember which blog post this was and it’s not coming to mind. A quick search hasn’t helped, either.

Emily, our patterns are sold for personal, noncommercial use only. We ask that people not make and sell items from them for personal profit. But not everyone gets that message….

So I thought I read that you can not sell items made from Oliver and s patterns. But I see people on etsy selling finished garments? Can you sell stuff made from these patterns?

I love the quilted jacket that appears in the o+s blog. I have several friends having babies this fall and would like to gift them each a jacket. A few questions before I start. Is the lining quilted separate from the outer fabric? Or how do you turn it all if it’s quilted together?

Love it! I upcycle a lot of clothes to make things for my 2 year old. It gives me great satisfaction to get a 2nd life out of a ripped pair of pants!

I just wanted to share this jacket I did this weekend. I am a budget sewer and can’t always afford new fabric. I thought someone might be interested in this. I bought a men’s jacket (50% wool / 50% lambs wool) and a large pink top sheet from Salvation Army. Cost $4. I had everything else in my stash except for the toggle closures. Cost ($9 with…[Read more]

This would be great. I currently use thread theory but would love some other options. Some of theirs are kind of slim fitting.

My gorgeous 21 month old hasn’t quite (or maybe has entirely!) got my name right. She wakes up and in the morning calls for her family. ‘Deedee, Daddy ‘ack (Jack), Mummymilk.’ She is now just calling me ‘Mummymilk’ the time!
I am more than the some of my parts darling!

Hi all. Just thought I would share a few of my “learnings” while sewing this coat with Woodland Clearing laminate fabric.
Don’t forget these hints pertain to sewing on my machine & your machine may produce different results. Make lots of sample stitchings before sewing your fabric.1. I purchased a Teflon coated foot for my machine. Worth every…[Read more]

Hi @creativerose Rosie, I would suspect it may stop at a size 2t but I really can’t be sure as I am sewing Oliver and s for a baby for the first time (my other two are much older).
Alot of ladies just size up, especially if they use the flannelette variety. You could always do this and that would entitle you to pants/ bottoms that would fit well…[Read more]
