Thanks, I appreciate the links and suggestions. The Jalie patterns look great and I’ll try one to see how it goes!

I was also going to suggest Jalie! Their patterns are wonderful and come in a huge range of sizes, kids 2 right up to large adult sizes. Their PDF’s are fantastic too!
And the patterns I’ve used had great fitting advice too. -

Hi, hope everyone is doing well today. I’m searching for a great pattern for a tween girl’s ballet leotard, preferably camisole straps and low u-back. My daughter is a dancer and small for her age, and she struggles to find comfortable dance wear. Being really, really, really picky in this area doesn’t help her. 🙂 I’m not worried about finding…[Read more]

Looks amazingly cute @with love Heidi.
I bought fabric to make my “day outfit” for the royal and came home to realise that I think I am short by a metre! Oh well I will have to go back in on Tuesday when I’m there next to claim that extra metre. And I will double check the amount of fabric for the other dress I want to use the same pattern…[Read more]

I’ve just finished my Star Wars Alabama Chanin style Tea Party Sundress. It has been a very relaxing project to do while I recovered from surgery. Lots of resting on the couch enabled me to finish it in 7 days! This was a bit of a shock when I realised how fast I made it. I’m back working on my Alabama Chanin style quilt but looking forward to…[Read more]

Great idea, Sarvi!! It probably would have been a little easier to add width prior to cutting, giving you some “wiggle room” / options with design concept. One suggestion – go with more than 1 strand of silk thread. At least 2, if not 3 DMC or floche . . .so that your work will be seen. @motherof5 Thoughts?? Have you tried to smock this area of…[Read more]

I can’t wait to make it @with love Heidi. It’s a quarter to midnight, the latest I’ve stayed up to sew in ever so long. I have just finished a pair of stylearc Jilly jeans – the best pattern for jeans I’ve made for me so far. I will be using this pattern again for sure. But not right now as I am in need of sleep!
The next project will be for the show.

In keeping with heirloom stitching but not smocking per se, here are few thoughts for those wee pleats I had in mind but will probably never get to do:
Stitches in between the pleats:

i have made this in a light cotton madras plaid; as a swim cover-up I can see it in crinkle or double gauze or ramie.

“Chloe’s” dress sounds like it will be lovely 🙂
I’ve retraced the tea party sundress in 6-12m with 1/4 seam allowances so I can make an Alabama Chanin dress with the symbol of the Rebel Alliance (Star Wars) on the skirt. I removed the seam allowances from the neckline so I can bind the neckline.
I’ve been slowly working my way through a Alabama…[Read more] -

@mama_knowles I look forward to seeing what you make and how you construct it.
@gailanncreates that’s a fantastic idea, I’m going to try it out, thank you!

Has anyone used this dress as a swim cover-up? What fabric would you use? Not terry cloth, too thick, but I can’t think what would be good?
I have made the dress before from knit and I like it, just thought it would work well for this.

Thanks! I looked on Pinterest and found something …two long sashes, one on each side seam of waistband, then tied to form a bow. While the felt tutorial is more along the lines of what I wanted, I got to wondering how well it would dry and iron for wearing. I am thinking of making the sashes same width as waistband but tapering larger as they go…[Read more]
