Shiva kumar started the topic Singer 2250: zig zag stitch prob in the forum off topic 2 years ago
Hi friends,
I have a singer tradition 2250 model sewing machine. This has stopped sewing zig zag stitches, it stitches in plain fashion instead of zig zag. I can clearly see the needle moving to the left and right and penetrating the fabric, but the needle again pulls back the thread from the fabric while zig zag. What could be the issue, have…[Read more]

Marty Kattleman started the topic Rolled Hemmer Foot for Jeans in the forum off topic 2 years ago
I am trying to find a rolled hemmer foot for my Kenmore sewing machineg. I see rolled feet on Aliexpress that are from 3, to 10 mm. Would the 10 mm be sufficient for standard blue jeans. Or is there a specific brand or model that I should look out for?
Thanks in advance, or behind, if you forgot to set your clocks.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Belgravia dress – sizing question in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 2 years ago
I think you’d probably be ok choosing a size 10 and maybe reducing the width at the hips if you find that you need it. Its something you can do after you’ve sewn it if you want. Just turn the dress inside out, pin the hips to be as narrow as you want, and re-sew them. Regarding the height, it depends on where you are tall. I’m 5’8″ and long…[Read more]

Carol J started the topic Belgravia dress – sizing question in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 2 years ago
I’m about to sew a dress & use a knit fabric for the very first time with the Belgravia dress pattern. I’m uncertain which size to choose. The body measurements put me as bust size 10, waist size 12 & hip size 6. With it being a knit fabric would I be OK to pick just one size – I’m thinking size 10 (by my bust size) or should I consider grading…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Raising V neck on Amarena dress in the forum liesl + co: amarena dress 2 years ago
If you raise the V-neck (which you can absolutely do, no problem) you’ll want to shorten the collar at the center back so it fits correctly. Again, easy to do–just measure at the seam line and shorten at the back seam by the same amount. I hope that helps!

I have a short shoulder to bust length and may need to raise the V neck a bit. Will I also need to modify the shawl collar? If I raise the neckline 1” should the collar be shortened by 2” ? Retaper the center front points?
Thanks so much for your advice. I can’t wait to start on this new design.

Stelma replied to the topic Uncertain as to pattern format in the forum liesl + co: fira dress + top 2 years ago
As I know, the Fira dress pattern is available in both downloadable PDF and printed paper format.
I opt for printed paper, because no printer required. However, you have to be aware of things like it is more expensive, can take several days or even weeks to arrive.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Yanaka jacket problem with sleeves in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 2 years ago
Ok, it looks like maybe your shoulders are wider than the pattern? I think you could make an adjustment for this by drawing a wider shoulder on the front and back pattern pieces.

Yes, I meant draglines. (Stupid autocorrection.) The folds go from the shoulder to the inner elbow. It is worse on the right shoulder.
